Filter by:Efficacy and safety of Thymalfasin adjuvant therapy in HBV-related HCC after curative resection.
Using peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) and serum collection from HBV and HCV infected patients in a number of different immunological assays, the investigators hope to identify any changes in the number and function of these immune cells and to investigate how these changes contribute to viral persistence and disease progression.
Patients with chronic Hepatitis B who are under oral antiviral treatment for at least 6 months at study start will be monitored once yearly for kidney function changes within their routine outpatient visit. Therefore urine samples will be collected and some additional blood test will be done within the routine blood sampling.
According to the World Health Organization about 1,400,000 deaths reported annually, are related to chronic liver disease. Chronic liver disease is very prevalent in South Korea, placing a large economic burden nationwide. Subsequently, an effective and systematized approach to managing chronic hepatitis is imperative in Korea. The natural history of chronic liver disease differs greatly according to race and ethnicity. However, there is scarcity of epidemic data on chronic hepatitis based on Korean patients. Therefore, the investigators plan to establish a retrospective and prospective multicenter cohort for chronic hepatitis B based on Korean patients that may be utilized for various future clinical studies on chronic hepatitis B in Korea, and thereby serve as a basis for the establishment and distribution of clinical guidelines for Korean patients with chronic hepatitis B, as part of a nationwide project supported by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Korea. The investigators plan to collect 500 cases as have been advised by the CDC during the study period (September, 2014-March, 2015) from 4 tertiary hospitals located in Korea. In the past 5 years, there have been about 800 subjects with chronic hepatitis B who have undergone liver fibroscan and liver biopsy from these 4 institutions. The investigators plan to register available cases retrospectively from those who are available to agree to give written informed consent to participate in this study, and to register the remaining numbers of cases prospectively, according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria.
This randomized, controlled, parallel group, open-label multicenter study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of a combination of pegylated interferon alfa-2A (Pegasys) plus lamivudine or entecavir compared with an untreated control group in participants with HBeAg positive CHB in the immune tolerant phase. The study is an open-label, randomized, comparative, multicenter clinical trial. The purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy of ABX203, a new chronic hepatitis B therapeutic vaccine administered as an adjunct therapy to nucleos(t)ide analogs (NUCs), in maintaining control of Hepatitis B disease after cessation of treatment with NUCs in subjects with HBeAg negative chronic Hepatitis B.
The definition of HBs antigen (HBsAg) inactive carrier status has evolved during time. We spoke first from HBsAg" healthy carrier ", then from " asymptomatic carrier ", last from HBsAg" inactive carrier ". This definition continue to be not totally consensual. A very low viral load (< 2000 UI/ml) or undetectable, associated with repetitive normal transaminases and with detectable anti-HBe antibodies were necessary to affirm the inactive carrier status on 2009 EASL recommendations. The 2012 EASL recommendations confirm that the normality of alanine aminotransferase (ALT) with an upper limit of normal (ULN) approximately below 40 UI/ml, like low viral load (HBV-DNA), does necessary be verified every 3 or 4 months during a year to diagnose an inactive carrier. Nevertheless, they admit the possibility for some patients to be inactive carriers with HBV-DNA between 2000 and 20000 UI/ml with consistently normal transaminases This study will follow-up HBsAg inactive carriers during 5 years, in order to evaluate the incidence of unfavourable liver events: chronic hepatits B, liver cirrhosis, hepatocarcinoma (CHC) during this time, and to determine the independant prognosis criteria of unexpected arrival of such events. Secondary outcomes will evaluate HBsAg quantification for the prognosis of such events or, in contrary HBs seroconversion; will evaluate the influence of B genotype on HBsAg level; will evaluate the influence of comorbidities on unexpected arrival of such events.
Liver Cirrhosis is a common pathological consequence of chronic liver disease. Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) is one of most etiologies of Liver cirrhosis in China. The effective inhibition of HBV can partially regress or reverse liver fibrosis in patients with chronic Hepatitis and liver cirrhosis due to HBV, however some patients keep existence or development although HBV DNA is under-detectable after anti-virals. Theses refractory liver fibrosis is required the anti-fibrotic treatment focusing on the regulation of hepatic extracellular matrix, especially is necessary for in the patients with advance fibrosis stage ie. liver cirrhosis. Fuzheng Huayu has been found to enhance the degradation of collagens in fibrotic liver and have a good action against liver fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis B. However, there are no high quality clinical evidences which can demonstrate if the combination of anti-viral and anti-fibrotic therapy can improve the reversion of refractory liver fibrosis in liver cirrhosis due to HBV. The primary objective of this study is to establish the safety and efficacy of the combination of Entecavir and Traditional Chinese Medicine in refractory liver fibrosis in liver cirrhosis due to HBV.
