Filter by:The purpose of this observational study is to measure the real-life persistence, adherence and clinical effectiveness of entecavir in patients with chronic Hepatitis B viral infection.
This is a phase I study being conducted to support the clinical development program of a FDC product of the nucleoside analogue lamivudine and the nucleotide analogue adefovir dipivoxil. To establish bioequivalence, the exposure of lamivudine and adefovir dipivoxil when administered as the FDC will be compared to that of Heptodin (lamivudine) and Hepsera (adefovir dipivoxil) when administered separately. In this study, the FDC product will contain 100mg lamivudine/10mg adefovir dipivoxil. Total 40 healthy adult subjects will be enrolled. The study will include a screening visit and two treatment sessions. The screening visit will be conducted up to 3 weeks prior to the first dose of Session 1. All subjects will receive Regimen A through B according to the randomization schedule. Eligible subjects will be enrolled in the study and randomized to receive the following treatment regimens in table below in one of the following treatment sequences: AB, or BA. There will be a seven to ten days washout period between each treatment session. Pharmacokinetic sampling for measurement of plasma lamivudine and adefovir dipivoxil concentrations will be conducted over a 48-hour period following the morning administration of study medication in each study session. During this time, all subjects will remain in the unit for pharmacokinetic (PK) sample collection. The total duration (from screening to the end of the study) of each subject's participation will be approximately four weeks.
This study evaluates the immunogenicity and safety of Infanrix hexa™ (DTPa-HBV-IPV/Hib) when administered as a primary vaccination course to Indian infants according to a 6-10-14 weeks or a 2-4-6 months schedule.
Background: - Hepatitis B and hepatitis C can cause liver damage. They can also cause serious illness, including liver cancer, and even death. This study will follow people who have hepatitis B or hepatitis C. The purpose is to understand more about how these viruses affect the immune system over the long term (up to 10 years). The study will also compare how these viruses affect people who do and do not have HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. Objectives: - To do a long-term study of hepatitis B and hepatitis C infection. - To study the effects of hepatitis B and hepatitis C infection in people do and do not have HIV. Eligibility: - People at least 18 years of age who have hepatitis B or hepatitis C and have a regular doctor for their medical care. Design: - Participants will be screened with a physical exam and medical history. Those who do not have a regular doctor to provide medical care during the study will not be able to take part. - Participants will have yearly visits with study researchers for up to 10 years. These tests will be done at each visit. - Medical history and physical exam. - Questionnaire (optional) on emotions, sexual behaviors, use of alcohol and drugs, and quality of life. - Blood and urine tests, including HIV testing. - Tissue sample collections for those who have had a liver or other tissue biopsy. - Participants may leave the study at any time. They will receive the standard of care from their regular doctor throughout the study.
The primary purpose of this study is to determine whether HepavaxGene TF is non-inferior to the comparator vaccine both at impeding hepatitis B transmission from mothers positive for chronic hepatitis B (Stratum 1) to their children and also in terms of seroconversion rate in children of mothers negative for chronic hepatitis B (Stratum 2) one month after completion of the immunization schedule.
This study has been designed to support the indication of the candidate vaccine (also referred to as GSK 257049 or RTS,S in this record) against hepatitis B virus infection, when administered as a primary vaccination integrated into an Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) regimen to infants living in sub-Saharan Africa.
This is a randomized, open label study evaluating the efficacy and safety of glucocorticoids in patients with HBV associated pre-ACLF. Sponsor: Department of infectious diseases, Southwest Hospital. Indication: HBV associated acute-on-chronic pre-liver failure(pre-ACLF-HBV). Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of glucocorticoids in patients with pre-ACLF-HBV. Trial Design: Randomized, open label study. Patients with pre-ACLF-HBV will be randomized 1:1 to One of the two groups: A)Dexamethasone 10mg were intravenously injected po daily for the first 5 days, in combination with continued lamivudine 100mg po daily and traditional supporting treatments for 13 weeks. B)Control group. Any glucocorticoids will be not given in all patients. Continued lamivudine 100mg po daily and traditional supporting treatments will be given for 13 weeks. Number of patients: Approximate number of patients to be randomized: N=200 (100 patients in each group). Length of study: Screening period: 3 days; treatment period: 13 weeks. Duration of study: 30 months after first patient randomized, including an recruitment period of 26 months. Investigational treated regimen:Dexamethasone 10mg, iv, once day for 5 days. Concomitant and Comparative regimen: Lamivudine 100mg po daily, traditional supporting treatments. Assessments of Efficacy Primary endpoint: the survival rate at week 13. Secondary endpoint:①The levels of serum T-Bil ≤ 51.3µmol/L;②PTA >80%. Safety: Adverse events, vital signs, and laboratory tests. Procedures(summary): After signing informed consent and meeting screening parameters, patients will be randomized to one of the two treatment groups as described under trial design above. After randomization patients will be seen for evaluation at days 5,10,14,21,28,42,56,70,84,91. Statistical analysis: Assume 1:1 randomization. The sample size is calculated for the primary efficacy variable, the survival rate. Assuming the survival rate equals to: 90% for group A and 50% for group B. 100 patients in each group are required to yield a 80% chance of detecting such a difference when a two-tailed test is employed at the 0.05 significance levels. Every eligible subject will be assigned with a randomization code and receive one of the two treatments, according to the sequence of enrolled.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of generic entecavir monotherapy or in combination with adefovir for chronic hepatitis B patients with inadequate response to NUC therapy
The aims of this study are to determine: 1. the degree of immunity against hepatitis B, 2. factors associated with immunity against hepatitis B, 3. if the amount of antigen provided in a booster dose (used to measure the degree of immune memory) affects the body's response to the booster, and 4. if the age at which the vaccination was initiated during infancy affects duration of protection against hepatitis B among adolescents 16-19 years of age born in the United States who were immunized against hepatitis B as infants. These data will be important to evaluate the potential need for a possible booster dose of hepatitis B vaccine among adolescents. Study subjects eligible for enrollment will: - have blood drawn for baseline serologies - receive the hepatitis B booster dose (randomly determined to be either a 10 ug or 20 ug dose) - have blood drawn again 14 days later to determine if the booster dose has engendered an anamnestic response (a response attributed to prior immunity rather than a new response to the vaccine) The primary hypothesis is that the majority of young people will exhibit immune memory for hepatitis B in response to a booster dose of vaccine.
