It has been shown that foot and ankle postural disorders can alter the biomechanic of lower extremity and pelvis. This situation can affects balance, postural control and phsical performance of individual adversely. However, it is unknown whether the muscles that control lumbopelvic are affected or not affected. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between foot-ankle characteristics and lumbopelvic control, balance and physical performance in healthy young adults.

Custom Foot Orthoses & Venous Status

The purpose of the research is to compare the influence of customized foot orthoses use on the venous status among healthy female and male subjects. This is a quasi-experimental study which included 20 healthy subjects. Sociodemographic and medical record data are registered. Furthermore,venous function is evaluated by plethysmography, first, without orthoses and, after 20 days, with orthoses.

Nurses' Foot Health and Work Well-being

This study supports and promotes work well-being of nursing personnel from the perspective of foot health in health care organizations. Half of the participants will receive an electronic foot health education program to improve their foot self-care knowledge, while the other will receive anything. The outcomes of this project include recommendations and tested educational program to occupational health care for improving foot health of nurses.

Changes in Footwear Comfort and Performance in High School Football Players

The objective of this proposal is to determine the effects of footwear stiffness on a large cohort of high school football players during a football season. The investigators expect that functional athlete groups will be developed, based on subject specific assessments (biomechanical, morphological, performance, comfort), and lead to important translational findings that may impact footwear modification and recommendation to a population of American football players. Two standard cleats will be randomized and provided during a season of high school football. Ratings of comfort, performance, and injury will be collected throughout the season.
