Filter by:This study is designed to further investigate the use of a modified Atkins diet for children with intractable, daily seizures. It is a follow-up to a study recently completed by our institution. In this 6-month study, children will be randomized to either 10 or 20 grams of carbohydrate per day, then crossed over to the opposite amount at 3 months.
The purpose of this study is to determine if treatment using a medication (anastrozole/Arimidex), which lowers estrogen levels in the blood is better than placebo, a tablet that does not contain any active medication, when combined with testosterone replacement to treat reproductive and sexual dysfunction in men with epilepsy. Anastrozole, the medication that is currently under study, does not, at this time, have FDA approval for use for this indication.
To establish the safety and feasibility of having patients with epilepsy perform yoga.

This trial, evaluating the long-term safety and tolerability of brivaracetam, will give subjects suffering from epilepsy, who may have benefited from brivaracetam, the opportunity to continue the treatment. The study will also evaluate the maintenance of efficacy over time of brivaracetam for subjects with partial onset seizures (POS)/primary generalized seizures (PGS).
Study N01175 was to compare overall effectiveness (efficacy and safety) of levetiracetam (LEV) versus the 2 older antiepileptic drugs (AEDs), sodium valproate extended release (VPA-ER) and carbamazepine controlled release (CBZ-CR) in the treatment of subjects with newly diagnosed epilepsy.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of clobazam as adjunctive therapy in the treatment of seizures which lead to drop attacks (drop seizures) in subjects 2 to 30 years of age with Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS). Subjects will be enrolled at approximately 10 investigational sites in the U.S. for up to 15 weeks. Subjects will be randomly assigned to either a low dose or a high dose. The study will include a baseline period, a titration period and a maintenance period. After the maintenance period, subjects will either continue into an open-label extension study or enter the taper period with a final visit 1 week after the last dose.
Community based study assessing safety and efficacy of levetiracetam in partial onset seizures. The optimal dose in daily clinical practice will be used.
