Filter by:RATIONALE: Exercise and dietary counseling may affect weight loss and improve the quality of life of obese endometrial cancer patients and may help them live longer and more comfortably. PURPOSE: This randomized clinical trial is studying the effects of exercise and dietary counseling on weight loss and quality of life of obese patients with stage I or stage II endometrial cancer in remission.
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as carboplatin and docetaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving more than one drug (combination chemotherapy) may kill more tumor cells. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Giving combination chemotherapy together with radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving carboplatin and docetaxel followed by radiation therapy works in treating patients with stage III, stage IV, or recurrent endometrial cancer.
The purpose of this study is to provide a repository for long-term storage of endometrial cancer tumor and normal tissue, ascites and serum. This material will be used in studies to better understand the molecular biology of endometrial cancer.

The primary objective of this study is to assess disease-free survival at 4.5 years postoperatively for women with apparent Stage 1 endometrial cancer, comparing patients who are randomised to receive Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy (TLH) and patients who are randomised to receive Total Abdominal Hysterectomy (TAH).
