Filter by:Randomized, double-blind prospective trial to test the efficacy of therapeutic, antiseptic mouth rinses to inactivate severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) in saliva of COVID-19 positive patients aged 18-65 years old. All mouthrinses are commercially available and will be used according to on-label instructions. Patients will be randomized to a mouthrinse and will be asked to give a saliva sample immediately before and after a one minute mouthwash. Saliva samples will be collected from patients at 15 minute intervals thereafter up to an hour (15, 30, 45 and 60 minutes). The samples will be stored and used for real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) detection of viral SARS-CoV-2 RNA and viral infectivity assays. Patients will also complete a short-survey on the taste and experience of using the mouthwash. This study involves 150 subject participants and one, 75-90 minute visit.
There are few data on the immunogenicity of the Pfizer-Biontec BNT162b2 vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19 disease and of side effects in children aged 5-11 years. Therefore, our aim is to determine the immunogenicity and to describe the local or systemic reactogenicity events after vaccination with the BNT162b2 COVID-19 vaccine in children aged 5-11 years for a period of six and half months following the first dose of the vaccine.
Observational Study of the Association of Immunological and Inflammatory Biomarkers in COVID-19 Naïve and Infected Participants and Severity of Disease. Thirty naive and 30 COVID positive participants will have a blood sample taken after informed consent and be assessed for COVID symptoms according to WHO classification. Participants will be followed monthly for 6 months. At each contact, participants will be assessed for COVID symptoms and progress since the previous visit.
Background: Several studies suggest that SARS survivors still presented with high levels of psychological distress overall at 1, 3, 12, and 18 months after hospital discharge. Nonetheless, there are no data available in the literature regarding the implementation of interventions that are psychological interventions, let alone specific ones. In particular, the practice of mindfulness, formalized in the protocols such as Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), have proved to be very effective in reducing stress related to chronic conditions and of depression. However, these protocols typically require a high level of engagement for participants, which is why, in the present exploratory study, the investigators opted to evaluate the implementation of a Mindfulness-based protocol that is short and less intense, but which has shown good results on health-related outcomes, even with a single session. Objectives: In this perspective, it becomes important to detect the presence of psychological distress in those who have contracted COVID-19 and are now undertaking a rehabilitation program, from the perspective of promoting well-being and prevention of possible aggravation if not prolongation of mental suffering in the long term. Study Design: Randomized and Controlled (RCT), two-arm pilot study with three data captures (baseline=T0, 3 weeks=T1, 3 months=T2). Participants: People who have previously tested positive for COVID-19, now negative and hospitalized at the IRCCS Santa Maria Nascente of the Fondazione Don Carlo Gnocchi in Milan.
A Randomized, Double Blind, Placebo-Controlled Study to Evaluate the Effect of Nicotinamide Mononucleotide (NMN) As an Adjuvant to Standard of Care (SOC) On Fatigue Associated with COVID-19 Infection
The 2019 Coronavirus disease outbreak (COVID-19) was first reported at the end of 2019 in Wuhan China as a severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARSCoV-2) infection. In less than a year, SARS-CoV-2 infection has become a pandemic and spread to almost all countries in the world, including Indonesia. World Health Organization data states that there are 4,240,479 confirmed cases of SARS-CoV-2 in Indonesia until 25 October 2021 with a death rate of 143,235 (WHO, 2021a). The Indonesian National Agency of Drug and Food Control (NA-DFC) has issued an Emergency Use Authorization for several SARS-COV-2 Vaccines, including the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine (Vero cell) inactivated produced by Sinopharm (BPOM, 2021). Clinical data that the actual immune responses decrease after several months are continuously being reported (Marmot et al., 2021), and the decrease of vaccine efficacy due to the appearance of variants is also known (Abu-Raddad et al., 2021; Lopez Bernal et al., 2021). These potential risks suggest the need for a booster dose or periodic booster doses of the SARS-COV-2 Vaccine. In fact, there is a study result given several months after vaccination, which leads to the generation of a higher immune responses (Pan H et al., 2021). Booster dose of SARS-COV-2 Vaccine will either induce a high level of antibody responses against original strain, or enhance the broadly formed T cell immunity regardless of mutant strain to improve individual protection.
Recent research evidence shows that levels of antibodies acquierd post vacunation against SARS-Cov-2 decrease over time as well as the efficacy to control the infection, additionally in a multicenter study carried out in 2020 were evidenced differences in the time it took to decrease the antibodies according to the type of vaccine, defined as mRNA or other types of vaccine. In this study , the variation of the SARS-Cov-2 antibody levels in patients from Valle de Aburrá will be correlated according to the COVID-19 vaccine received.
An Adaptive, Multicenter, Randomized, Double-blind, Placebo-Controlled Phase III Study to Evaluate the Efficacy and Safety of Aerosolized JH509 vs. Placebo in Non-hospitalized Adult Patients with Mild COVID-19
This is a combined retrospective and prospective, longitudinal, observational meta-cohort of individuals who will enter the cohort with and without SARS-CoV-2 infection and at varying stages before and after infection. Individuals with and without SARS-CoV-2 infection and with or without Post-Acute Sequelae of COVID-19 (PASC) symptoms will be followed to identify risk factors and occurrence of PASC. This study will be conducted in the United States and subjects will be recruited through inpatient, outpatient, and community-based settings. Study data including age, demographics, social determinants of health, medical history, vaccination history, details of acute SARS-CoV-2 infection, overall health and physical function, and PASC symptom screen will be reported by subjects or collected from the electronic health record using a case report form at specified intervals. Biologic specimens will be collected at specified intervals, with some tests performed in local clinical laboratories and others performed by centralized research centers or banked in the Biospecimen Repository. Advanced clinical examinations and radiologic examinations will be performed at local study sites with cross-site standardization.
