NCT ID: NCT04474444 Recruiting - Substance Use Clinical Trials

Ambulance Calls for Substance Use and Alcohol in a Pandemic (ASAP)

ASAP
Start date: March 23, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The Primary objective is to explore ambulance service attendance at incidents involving alcohol and/or substance use over the period of the pandemic lockdown, and the following months. This will be to determine prevalence and explore factors such as patient gender, age, ethnicity or location. Analysis will examine the calls over the course of the year prior to the lockdown, and then compare this to the period of lockdown and following months.

NCT ID: NCT04474340 Recruiting - Pneumonia, Viral Clinical Trials

COVID-19 Convalescent Plasma Treatment in SARS-CoV-2 Infected Patients

Start date: May 21, 2020
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

Due to the limitations of COVID-19 treatment and in the absence of licensed antiviral for COVID-19, the historical choice of therapeutic convalescent plasma (CP) is considered especially against RNA viruses .It was known that convalescent plasma does not only neutralize the pathogens but provide passive immunomodulatory properties that allows the recipient to control the exaggerated inflammatory cascade. However, still there is a lack of understanding of the mechanism of action of CCP therapeutic components. Reports from open label trials and case series show that CCP is safe and might be effective in severe cases with COVID-19 . Therefore, the World health organisation (WHO) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued guidelines for the CCP usage and standardised the donor selection , which was further supported by Emergency use Authorisation (EUA) . Therefore, the aim in the current study is to assess the effect of CCP on time to clinical improvement, hospital mortality and to evaluate the changes on oxygen saturation and laboratory markers (lymphocyte counts and C-reactive protein) compared with standard treatment alone in patients with moderate or severe COVID-19 disease.

NCT ID: NCT04474301 Recruiting - Melanoma Clinical Trials

Well-Being and Health-Related Quality of Life in Melanoma Patients During COVID-19 Pandemic

Start date: June 11, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The primary purpose of this study is to gain an understanding of how experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic, regardless of COVID-19 status, may have impacted multiple domains of health-related quality of life and other areas such as COVID-19 specific psychological distress, and disruptions to health care, finances and social interactions. We will also evaluate the extent to which resiliency factors such as social support, perceived benefits under times of stress, and ability to manage stress may buffer associations between COVID-19 experiences and HRQoL. To meet these objectives, we have developed a 10-minute questionnaire that taps into these areas and is based on prior work addressing concerns of other pandemics or national crises. Participants will have previously consented to protocol PA15-0336 and have provided prior lifestyle data. This will allow us to connect the COVID-19 survey data with prior existing data.

NCT ID: NCT04474288 Completed - Covid19 Immunology Clinical Trials

The COVID-19 PUI Reality Check (CPRC) Study

CPRC
Start date: July 16, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study compares SARS-CoV-2 immune responses in high pretest probability swab negative hospitalized PUI patients vs. low pretest probability swab negative hospitalized APS (Asymptomatic Persons being Screened) patients to try to understand the appropriateness and safety of clinical decisions made in these patient populations based on swab results.

NCT ID: NCT04474249 Recruiting - COVID19 Clinical Trials

Follow-up of Critical COVID-19 Patients

FUP-COVID
Start date: June 25, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The study will follow COVID-19 patients who required intensive care after 3-6 months and one year after discharge from the ICU with functional level as well as organ function to assess recovery after COVID-19. Blood and urine will be collected for biobanking.

NCT ID: NCT04474236 Completed - COVID-19 Clinical Trials

Lung Ultrasound for COVID-19 Initial Triage and Monitoring

QUICK
Start date: May 27, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The QUICK study main aim is to assess the predictive value at Day 1, of a model built on lung ultrasound (LUS) and clinical data, both recorded at hospital admission of COVID-19 patients.

NCT ID: NCT04474080 Completed - Burnout Clinical Trials

Reducing Burnout Among Frontline Healthcare Workers During COVID-19

RESTORE
Start date: July 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Physician burnout has a significant impact on the wellness and productivity of physicians as well as patient health outcomes. Managing burnout among frontline workers is critical to Canada's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, in order to support frontline workers and reduce inefficiencies and medical errors frequently linked to burnout, ultimately improving our ability to detect, treat and manage COVID-19 cases. Therefore, this trial aims to assess the effects of an 8-session intervention over 3 months for burnout in physician residents in residency programs at McMaster University in Canada during the COVID-19 pandemic. This trial will provide evidence to inform health system management and public health response early and effectively so as to maintain the integrity of our workforce during and post-pandemic. The virtual delivery platform renders the proposed intervention easily disseminated internationally, in low- middle- and high- income countries and across urban and rural cities.

Phase:
Study type: Observational

This is a multi-center study comparing clinical outcomes in patients with COVID-19 in subjects hospitalized at Hadassah and other hospitals for PCR or serology confirmed COVID-19 and compare the outcomes to the presence of different degrees of a cytokine storm. The patients will be subdivided into a mild, moderate, and severe course according to NEWS2.
