NCT ID: NCT01277510 Terminated - Clinical trials for Chronic Kidney Disease

Pediatric Chronic Kidney Disease Safety and Efficacy

Start date: June 28, 2011
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to assess the safety and efficacy of adding cinacalcet to the current treatment of secondary hyperparathyroidism in children currently receiving dialysis compared to a treatment regimen that does not include cinacalcet.

NCT ID: NCT01277289 Terminated - Crohn's Disease Clinical Trials

Intra-erythrocyte Dexamethasone Versus Placebo in Patients With Steroid-dependent Crohn's Disease

Crodex
Start date: June 3, 2009
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Primary objective: Assessment of the efficacy of EryDex vs PLACEBO in maintaining patients with steroid-dependent Crohn's disease in clinical remission throughout 12 months without oral steroids. Secondary objectives: 1. safety of EryDex 2. emergence of new adverse effects from steroids or disappearance of those possibly pre-existing in the various subgroups of patients; 3. duration of the period of remission; 4. evaluation of the hypophysis-adrenal function; 5. study of plasma concentrations of dexamethasone; 6. effect of therapy on the metabolism of calcium and on indexes of inflammation; 7. assessing the quality of life; 8. rate of surgical resection 9. evaluation of the indirect costs of care.

NCT ID: NCT01276249 Terminated - Clinical trials for Aortic Aneurysm, Abdominal

The STAPLE International Post-Market Registry

Start date: August 2010
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The Aptus Endosystems STAPLE International Post-Market Registry is intended to expand the clinical knowledge base by including 'real world' subjects.

NCT ID: NCT01271114 Terminated - Septic Shock Clinical Trials

Hypertonic Saline and Terlipressin for Sepsis-associated Hypotension

HYSATESS-p
Start date: June 2012
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

In hypotensive septic patients with controlled source, an hemodynamic management protocol including hypertonic saline (HS)and terlipressin improves MOD (Multiple Organ Dysfunction) Score by at least 3 points compared to the use of physiologic saline and norepinephrine. The appropriate design for this trial would be factorial. For the time being, will consider de intervention as a whole unit for this pilot study. In the future an appropriately sized factorial multicentric study shall be necessary. Other goals of the pilot study: 1. HS restores preload parameters adequately 2. HS associated with terlipressin normalizes blood pressure in septic shock 3. HS associated with terlipressin maintains plasma sodium levels 130-155mEq/L 4. There is an inverse relationship between plasma sodium and procalcitonin levels 5. HS increases plasma levels of vasopressin (AVP) 6. HS rises levels of cortisol but not of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH)

NCT ID: NCT01261624 Terminated - Clinical trials for Polyarticular Course Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

Efficacy and Safety Dose Finding Study of Givinostat to Treat Polyarticular Course Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

Start date: October 2010
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The present study has been designed in order to evaluate the efficacy and safety of two doses of Givinostat in subjects with polyarticular course JIA Givinostat ready-to-use suspension especially intended for paediatric administration, will be administered orally at different daily doses. Patients with an established diagnosis of one of the following JIA forms (Polyarticular JIA rheumatoid factor positive or negative, Oligoarticular extended JIA, Systemic JIA without active systemic features) will be enrolled. The treatment regimen will remain unchanged for 12 weeks and the clinical response will by assessed by applying the ACR Pediatric response criteria. Patients achieving at least an ACR Pediatric 30 response will continue receiving the assigned dose for 12 further weeks. After the end of study (week 24) responder patients will be allowed to extend the treatment until they maintain a clinical benefit.

NCT ID: NCT01259297 Terminated - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Events

A Randomized Controlled Trial of Aliskiren in the Prevention of Major Cardiovascular Events in Elderly People

APOLLO
Start date: January 2011
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study was planned to provide new information regarding the role of aliskiren (with or without additional therapy with a diuretic or a Calcium channel blockers (CCB)) in elderly individuals (≥ 65 years) with systolic blood pressure (SBP) 130 to 159 mmHg, in preventing major cardiovascular (CV) events and on global measures of physical, executive and cognitive function.

NCT ID: NCT01252355 Terminated - Clinical trials for Multiple Sclerosis Relapse

Efficacy and Safety of Teriflunomide in Patients With Relapsing Multiple Sclerosis and Treated With Interferon-beta

TERACLES
Start date: January 2011
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective was to demonstrate the effect of teriflunomide, in comparison to placebo, on frequency of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) relapses in patients with relapsing forms of MS who are treated with Interferon-beta (IFN-beta). The secondary objectives were: - Assess the effect of teriflunomide, in comparison to placebo, when added to IFN-beta on: - Disease activity as measured by brain Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) - Disability progression - Burden of disease and disease progression as measured by brain MRI - Evaluate the safety and tolerability of teriflunomide when added to IFN-beta therapy - Assess the pharmacokinetics of teriflunomide in use in addition to baseline IFN-beta therapy - Assess associations between variations in genes and clinical outcomes (safety and efficacy) - Assess other measures of efficacy of teriflunomide such as fatigue and health-related quality of life - Assess measures of health economics (hospitalization due to relapse, including the length of stay and any admission to intensive care unit)
