NCT ID: NCT00004028 Completed - Clinical trials for Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors

Carmustine in Treating Patients With Recurrent Malignant Glioma

Start date: September 1996
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of carmustine in treating patients who are undergoing surgery for recurrent malignant glioma.

NCT ID: NCT00004024 Completed - Clinical trials for Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors

Biological Therapy Following Surgery and Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Primary or Recurrent Astrocytoma or Oligodendroglioma

Start date: June 1997
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Biological therapies use different ways to stimulate the immune system and stop cancer cells from growing. Combining different types of biological therapies may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of biological therapy following surgery and radiation therapy in treating patients who have primary or recurrent astrocytoma or oligodendroglioma.

NCT ID: NCT00004017 Completed - Clinical trials for Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors

Radiolabeled Monoclonal Antibody in Treating Patients With Glioblastoma Multiforme or Anaplastic Astrocytoma

Start date: February 2000
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Radiolabeled monoclonal antibodies can locate tumor cells and deliver tumor-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. This may be an effective treatment for some types of brain tumors. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of radiolabeled monoclonal antibody in treating patients who have glioblastoma multiforme or anaplastic astrocytoma.

NCT ID: NCT00004015 Completed - Clinical trials for Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors

Boron Neutron Capture Therapy Following Surgery in Treating Patients With Glioblastoma Multiforme Removed During Surgery

Start date: June 2002
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Boron neutron capture therapy may selectively kill tumor cells without harming normal tissue. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of boron neutron capture therapy following surgery in treating patients with glioblastoma multiforme removed during surgery.

NCT ID: NCT00004004 Completed - Clinical trials for Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors

Procarbazine in Treating Patients With Recurrent Brain Tumor

Start date: July 1999
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase I/II trial to study the effectiveness of procarbazine in treating patients who have progressive or recurrent astrocytoma, oligodendroglioma, or glioblastoma multiforme following treatment with radiation therapy.

NCT ID: NCT00003996 Completed - Clinical trials for Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors

Combination Chemotherapy Plus Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Newly Diagnosed Glioblastoma Multiforme

Start date: May 1999
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Combining more than one chemotherapy drug with radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy plus radiation therapy in treating patients who have newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme.

NCT ID: NCT00003939 Completed - Ovarian Cancer Clinical Trials

Ecteinascidin 743 in Treating Patients With Advanced Soft Tissue Sarcoma

Start date: n/a
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of ecteinascidin 743 in treating patients who have advanced soft tissue sarcoma.

NCT ID: NCT00003935 Completed - Brain Tumors Clinical Trials

Combination Chemotherapy Plus Radiation Therapy in Treating Children With Newly Diagnosed Brain Stem Glioma

Start date: September 1999
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Combining more than one drug with radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of vincristine plus etoposide and radiation therapy in treating children who have newly diagnosed brain stem glioma.

NCT ID: NCT00003926 Terminated - Ovarian Cancer Clinical Trials

Amifostine to Protect From Side Effects of PSCT in Treating Patients With Solid Tumors

Start date: November 1998
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining chemotherapy with peripheral stem cell transplantation may allow the doctor to give higher doses of chemotherapy drugs and kill more tumor cells. Chemoprotective drugs such as amifostine may protect normal cells from the side effects of high-dose chemotherapy. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of amifostine in protecting from the side effects of peripheral stem cell transplantation in treating patients who have high-risk or relapsed solid tumors.

NCT ID: NCT00003916 Completed - Clinical trials for Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors

Standard Radiation Therapy With or Without Stereotactic Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Glioma

Start date: April 1999
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells and may be an effective treatment for patients with glioma. Stereotactic radiation therapy may be able to deliver x-rays directly to the tumor and cause less damage to normal tissue. It is not yet known if standard radiation therapy is more effective when followed by stereotactic radiation therapy. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of standard radiation therapy with or without stereotactic radiation therapy in treating patients who have glioma.
