Filter by:Assess the efficacy and safety of S1 combined with cisplatin in treatment of recurrence/metastasis of ESCC
Anal cancer is treated with chemoradiotherapy- combined chemotherapy and radiotherapy. This is very successful (75% long term survival). During the course of the radiotherapy, other organs in the pelvis may be damaged. This can lead to long-term problems with possible changes to the skin, bowels with diarrhoea and incontinence problems, bladder shrinkage and incontinence of urine, sexual problems including impotence and ejaculatory problems, or pain during sexual intercourse with vaginal dryness and shrinkage. Patients should be offered help with these side effects. At present, there is very little information on the effect treatment has on a patient's quality of life, making it difficult to judge if new treatment methods are better. This project will measure quality of life from the patient's perspective after treatment for anal cancer. It will also gather preliminary data on quality of life after the introduction of a new technique for more precise 3D-targeting of radiotherapy beams at the cancer, called IMRT.
Phase II Study of efficacy and safety of buparlisib (BKM120) plus paclitaxel versus placebo plus paclitaxel in recurrent or metastatic Head and Neck cancer previously pre-treated with a platinum therapy.The primary endpoint was PFS and the key secondary endpoint was Overall Survival.
This phase I trial studies the side effects and best dose of paclitaxel albumin-stabilized nanoparticle formulation when given together with carboplatin followed by chemoradiation in treating patients with recurrent head and neck cancer. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel albumin-stabilized nanoparticle formulation, carboplatin, fluorouracil, and hydroxyurea, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Giving paclitaxel albumin-stabilized nanoparticle formulation followed by chemoradiation therapy may be an effective treatment for head and neck cancer.
This phase I trial studies the side effects and the best dose of viral therapy in treating patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck that has returned (come back) after a period of improvement or has spread to other parts of the body or breast cancer that has spread to other parts of the body. A virus called encoding thyroidal sodium iodide symporter, which has been changed in a certain way, may be able to kill tumor cells without damaging normal cells.
There is increasing evidence of a role of EGFR, treatment with EGFR-inhibitors in anal cancer and synergies of EGFR-inhibitors with radiotherapy. Addition of the human anti-EGFR antibody Panitumumab to chemoradiotherapy seems therefore solidly justified. This trial investigates concurrent panitumumab/capecitabine/mitomycin concurrent to IMRT-radiotherapy. Treatment components used in this study have been selected on scientific rationale. The trial regimen should be feasible with acceptable toxicity and outcome similar to historic series.
The purpose of this study is to compare the progression-free survival of patients with recurrent or metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN) treated with VTX-2337 + cisplatin or carboplatin + 5-FU + cetuximab versus patients treated with cisplatin or carboplatin + 5-FU + cetuximab alone (standard-of-care; SOC). Safety and overall survival will also be evaluated.
This randomized phase II trial studies how well cisplatin and radiation therapy with or without triapine work in treating patients with previously untreated stage IB-IVA cervical cancer or stage II-IVA vaginal cancer. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Radiation therapy uses high energy x rays to kill tumor cells. Triapine may make tumor cells more sensitive to radiation therapy. It is not yet known whether cisplatin and radiation therapy is more effective when given with or without triapine in treating cervical or vaginal cancer.
This trial aims to study the safety, the local control, and the overall survival of S-1 combined with radiotherapy for patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. 105 patients will be recruited into this trial.
Primary To investigate in patients with relapsed or metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck whether progression free survival (PFS) in the arm with cetuximab, paclitaxel and carboplatin based chemotherapy is not markedly worse than PFS in the arm with cetuximab and 5-FU, cisplatin or carboplatin based chemotherapy. Secondary To compare in patients with relapsed or metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck the following study variables between both treatment arms: - Best overall response - Duration of response - Time to treatment failure - Overall survival - Safety
