Filter by:The goal of this research study is to learn more about how women feel about an ovarian cancer screening program that involves getting a blood test to measure CA 125 levels. This includes finding out about women's quality of life and whether they are concerned or worried about their risk of developing cancer. This study also seeks to find out whether elevated CA 125 levels affect participants in terms of cancer worries or concerns.
Primary Objectives: 1. To assess the preferences of women with ovarian cancer, their clinical caregivers, familial caregivers, and a control group for toxicities associated with chemotherapy. - To compare preferences of women with ovarian cancer to preferences of their clinical caregivers. - To compare preferences of women with ovarian cancer to preferences of their familial caregivers. - To compare preferences of women with ovarian cancer to preferences of a women in the control group. 2. To prospectively collect quality of life data from women with ovarian cancer. 3. To prospectively collect symptom assessment data from women with ovarian cancer.
The goal of this psychosocial research study is to examine and explain the influence of spirituality on patients with ovarian, primary peritoneal or fallopian tube cancer.
This study collects information to maintain a database on patients with low-grade ovarian or peritoneal tumors. Collecting information about the type of cancer and treatment, as well as details about follow-up care, may help researchers learn and better understand these tumor types and help develop better treatments for them.
Primary objective: To estimate the overall clinical response rate (CR, PR, SD) of weekly docetaxel and weekly topotecan in women with recurrent platinum resistant ovarian or primary peritoneal cancer. Secondary objectives: To access the safety and tolerability of this novel combination chemotherapy regimen of weekly docetaxel and weekly topotecan in women with recurrent platinum resistant ovarian or primary peritoneal cancer To estimate the progression free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) for women with recurrent platinum resistant ovarian or primary peritoneal cancer treated with this weekly docetaxel and weekly topotecan.
This is a randomized Phase I/II study designed to assess the induction of an anti-tumor immune response; the effect of cyclophosphamide on the vaccine; and to assess safety in subjects with advanced ovarian cancer or primary serous peritoneal cancer given a multivalent DC vaccine, with or without a single dose of cyclophosphamide. Potential benefit may range from no direct benefit to the study participants to stimulation of the subject's own immune system to attack ovarian cancer to prevent relapse.
The objective of this study is to assess the safety and efficacy of karenitecin versus topotecan in patients with platinum/taxane-resistant advanced epithelial ovarian cancer. Additionally, this study will assess the ability of karenitecin to extend the time to disease progression, extend the overall survival time, and reduce the incidence and severity of treatment related hematological toxicities in patients with advanced epithelial ovarian cancer.
This phase I/II trial is studying the side effects and best dose of VEGF Trap when given together with docetaxel and to see how well they work in treating patients with persistent or recurrent ovarian epithelial cancer, primary peritoneal cancer, or fallopian tube cancer. VEGF Trap may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking blood flow to the tumor. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as docetaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving VEGF Trap together with docetaxel may kill more tumor cells
RATIONALE: Vaccines may help the body build an effective immune response to kill tumor cells. Colony-stimulating factors, such as GM-CSF, may increase the number of immune cells found in bone marrow or peripheral blood. Giving vaccine therapy together with sargramostim may be an effective treatment for breast cancer and ovarian cancer. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and identifying the best dose of vaccine therapy when given together with sargramostim in treating patients with stage III-IV breast cancer or ovarian cancer.
This phase II trial is studying the side effects and how well temsirolimus works in treating patients with refractory or recurrent ovarian epithelial cancer, fallopian tube cancer, or primary peritoneal cancer. Temsirolimus may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth.
