Bevacizumab With or Without Fosbretabulin Tromethamine in Treating Patients With Recurrent or Persistent Ovarian Epithelial, Fallopian Tube, or Peritoneal Cavity Cancer

This randomized phase II trial studies how well bevacizumab with or without fosbretabulin tromethamine works in treating patients with ovarian epithelial, fallopian tube, or peritoneal cavity cancer that has come back or is persistent. Monoclonal antibodies, such as bevacizumab, find tumor cells and help kill them. Bevacizumab and fosbretabulin tromethamine may stop the growth of ovarian cancer by blocking blood flow to the tumor. It is not yet known whether bevacizumab is more effective with or without fosbretabulin tromethamine in treating ovarian epithelial, fallopian tube, and peritoneal cavity cancer.

A Study of Carboplatin, PLD and Everolimus in Certain Gynecologic Cancer

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as carboplatin and pegylated liposomal doxorubicin hydrochloride (PLD) work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Everolimus may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Giving carboplatin and PLD together with everolimus may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of everolimus when given together with carboplatin and PLD in treating patients with relapsed ovarian epithelial, fallopian tube, or peritoneal cavity cancer

The purpose of this study is to determine, whether there is clinical benefit of using fdg-PET/CT (F-18-fluorodeoxyglucose- positron emission tomography/computed tomography)compared to contrast-enhanced CT in primary treatment of advanced epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) - Objectives - the impact of preoperative PET/CT compared to CT on EOC stage definition - to compare the value of preoperative PET/CT, CT and laparoscopy in intra-abdominal tumour assessment. Laparotomy findings evaluated by surgeon and histopathologic results serve as the reference standard. - to compare serum markers HE4(human epididymis protein 4) and CA125 (cancer antigen 125) with FDG-PET/CT and CT in treatment response evaluation during neoadjuvant chemotherapy and primary treatment of EOC - to compare FDG PET/CT based treatment response evaluation with RECIST and GCIG criteria - Methods - All the patients will undergo FDG-PET/CT prior surgery, after possible neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) and 4 weeks after completion of primary platinum-based chemotherapy. - CA125 and HE4 levels are measured pre-operatively, with every chemotherapy cycle and regularly during follow-up until 1st disease relapse

Paclitaxel and Carboplatin in Treating Patients With Metastatic or Recurrent Solid Tumors and HIV Infection

This phase I clinical trial is studying the side effects and the best dose of vorinostat when given together with paclitaxel and carboplatin in treating patients with metastatic or recurrent solid tumors and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Vorinostat may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving vorinostat together with paclitaxel and carboplatin may kill more tumor cells. NOTE: An administrative decision was made by NCI to halt further study of vorinostat in this specific patient population as of February 1, 2013. No patients remain on vorinostat. Going forward this study will determine the safety and tolerability of the paclitaxel and carboplatin combination in this patient population.

This phase III clinical trial studies two different dose schedules of paclitaxel to see how well they work in combination with carboplatin with or without bevacizumab in treating patients with stage II, III or IV ovarian epithelial cancer, primary peritoneal cancer, or fallopian tube cancer. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Bevacizumab is a type of drug called a monoclonal antibody and blocks tumor growth by stopping the growth of blood vessels that tumors need to grow. It is not yet known whether giving paclitaxel with combination chemotherapy once every three weeks is more effective than giving paclitaxel once a week in treating patients with ovarian, primary peritoneal, or fallopian tube cancer.

Study Comparing Tumor Debulking Surgery Versus Chemotherapy Alone in Recurrent Platinum-Sensitive Ovarian Cancer

It is still not clear whether a positive AGO-score just selects patients with less aggressive biologic tumor behavior who as well would have had a positive outcome by chemotherapy only, or , if it is a score selecting patients who really benefit from surgery. Nevertheless, the AGO-score was confirmed to select patients with a less than 30% risk of ending with residual tumor after surgery for recurrent disease. This could avoid including patients into the present surgical protocol who could not benefit from an operationThe goal of this third DESKTOP study is to evaluate in a prospectively randomized multicentre setting, whether maximum effort of cytoreductive surgery followed by platinum based combination chemotherapy can improve overall survival as compared to platinum based combination chemotherapy alone in AGO-score positive patients.
