Filter by:RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combining cisplatin, paclitaxel, and gemcitabine in treating patients who have progressive unresectable regional or metastatic bladder cancer.
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Colony-stimulating factors such as filgrastim may increase the number of immune cells found in bone marrow or peripheral blood and may help a person's immune system recover from the side effects of chemotherapy. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy with gemcitabine and docetaxel plus filgrastim in treating patients who have locally recurrent or advanced urothelium cancer.

It is not yet known whether combination chemotherapy is more effective than observation alone in treating bladder cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying combination chemotherapy to see how well it works compared to observation alone in treating patients with bladder cancer.
RATIONALE: Transurethral resection is a less invasive type of surgery for bladder cancer and may have fewer side effects and improve recovery. Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. It is not yet known whether transurethral resection plus AD 32 is more effective than transurethral resection alone for bladder cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of transurethral resection surgery followed by AD 32 with that of transurethral resection alone in treating patients who have newly diagnosed or recurrent bladder cancer.
