NCT ID: NCT03170947 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Effects of Insoles in Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis: Randomized Controlled Trial.

Start date: January 21, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Deformity and foot pain is nearly omnipresent (90%) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA), due to the interaction between inflammation and abnormal biomechanical. These cause instability in the hindfoot, which cause deformity of the forefoot, and they cause more pressure on the plantar forefoot and more pain during daily activities. Non-pharmacological interventions (insole, footwear) have an important role, reducing pain and disability, increasing the effectiveness and improving daily activities.

NCT ID: NCT03152396 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Pharmacist CVD Intervention for Patients With Inflammatory Arthritis

RxIALTA
Start date: July 17, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) (disease of the heart and blood vessels) is one of the leading causes of death and disability in Canada today. The majority of CVD cases are caused by factors that can be controlled. These factors include tobacco use, obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and physical inactivity. Such factors are common and not well controlled. Inflammatory arthritis (IA) (Inflammation of the joints and other tissues) is considered another risk factor or CVD. As such, people who have IA and any of the previously mentioned risk factors would be at high risk for developing CVD. Controlling these factors will bring down the risk of having cardiovascular disease and make the quality of the individuals' life better. Pharmacists work with patients and their family doctors to provide cardiovascular care. Having a pharmacist involved in the care process may help patients with IA reduce their CV risk. Pharmacists are easier to reach and may have more opportunities to educate people about medications. This might lead to better prevention and control of cardiovascular diseases.

NCT ID: NCT03107299 Recruiting - Methotrexate Clinical Trials

Evaluation of the Impact of 3 Methods of Communication on the Adherence of Methotrexate in Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis

METHO-PR
Start date: July 1, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Methotrexate (MTX) is the first-line treatment for rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Poor adherence of this treatment decreases the control of the disease and the effectiveness of the associated treatments. The aim would be to study the observance of patients with RA and to be able to propose adequate solutions favoring patient compliance and thus the stability of the pathology. For this purpose, 3 methods of communication have been put in place to encourage adherence: usual care by the rheumatologist, sms sending or pharmaceutical maintenance.

NCT ID: NCT03099525 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Treatment Outcome and Prognostic Factors for Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) Patients With Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD)

Start date: October 2016
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

The objectives of this single center, prospective, non-interventional cohort is to understand patient characteristics, general treatment patterns, effectiveness/safety of conventional disease modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD) and biologic DMARD treatments in rheumatoid arthritis patients with ILD in the real-world setting

NCT ID: NCT03087240 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Dental Prophylaxis and Rheumatoid Arthritis

PREPARA II
Start date: February 28, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study evaluates the influence of dental prophylaxis on disease activity of Rheumatoid Arthritis. In addition to standard antirheumatic therapy, recently the question has been raised whether or not there is a supplementary beneficial effect due to professional teeth cleaning. So far just a few studies pursued this question, indicating that prophylaxis by dental professionals can alleviate the symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis. To further evaluate this question, in our study half of the participants will receive dental prophylaxis at their first visit, after 2 weeks and 3 months, while the other half will receive professional teeth cleaning after 3 months only.

NCT ID: NCT03084419 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis

APRIL (AbatacePt in Rheumatoid Arthritis-ILD)

APRIL
Start date: June 26, 2018
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Early initiation of treatment for Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) can prevent several of the long term problems associated with the condition. However, many RA patients develop lung inflammation and scarring, called 'interstitial lung disease' (RA-ILD), contributing to early death in 1 in 5 people. There is no proven treatment for these patients and some medications for RA can in fact worsen their lung disease. There is a need therefore to find safe medications that can not only control RA joint disease, but also prevent progression of RA-ILD. Abatacept is an approved drug for treating RA and is used widely. It is a newer RA medication, with a unique mechanism of action, and it has been shown to prevent progression of joint damage and improve physical function. The investigators aim to assess the safety of this medication in patients with RA-ILD and improve our understanding of the mechanism of lung damage in rheumatoid disease. The investigators will perform a small clinical trial to assess the feasibility of performing a larger randomized controlled trial. A total of 30 patients with RA-ILD will be treated with abatacept infusions fortnightly for the first month, then every 4 weeks for a total of 20 weeks. In order to be eligible for the study, a patient must be able to provide written informed consent, be aged ≥18 years, and have interstitial lung disease that has not responded to or progressed over 6 months despite conventional immunosuppression. Change in lung function (forced vital capacity) at 24 weeks will be evaluated. To assess the mechanisms that may be involved with the development of ILD, the investigators will assess the effects of abatacept on biomarkers obtained from the blood and the lung (bronchoalveolar lavage), including markers of infection (the lung microbiome).

NCT ID: NCT03082573 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Efficacy, Radiographic and Laboratory Changes in Refractory Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients Treated With H.P. Acthar Gel

Start date: March 3, 2017
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

This study will examine the clinical response, cytokine expression and joint imaging after addition of Acthar Gel. The hypothesis is that H.P. Acthar Gel is both safe and effective for treatment of patients with refractory rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and has different mechanism of action than steroids and other DMARDs.

NCT ID: NCT03062865 Recruiting - Clinical trials for RheumatoId Arthritis

French National Registry: ART REGISTRY (Observational Study)

ART
Start date: November 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a complex and multifactorial autoimmune disease. The biological treatments that are currently available for the treatment of RA are the TNF-alpha inhibitors. Tumor necrosis factor (TNF) is a dominant cytokine in the inflammatory process of rheumatoid arthritis. The anti-TNFs were the first to enter the market, and they revolutionised the prognoses of patients with RA. They remain the most common first-line biotherapy and are the most used at this time. The French Society of Rheumatologists intends to coordinate a prospective national registry study for this follow-up. This registry will include 1500 RA patients from the start of treatment with anti-TNF-α and then followed for 5 years, regardless of the therapeutic modifications occurring thereafter. This registry is an observational, multicentre, longitudinal, prospective registry study The objectives of this registry is to contribute 1) to evaluate the therapeutic management of patients; and 2) to improve this therapeutic management.

Study type: Interventional

The primary objective of this study is to obtain long-term implant survivorship (out to 10 years) and to assess clinical, patient-reported outcome measures, and radiographic data for the commercially available Physica system. For ancillary arm, from baseline to 5-year follow-up.

NCT ID: NCT03027999 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Efficiency of a Tight Monitoring by a Nurse Practitioner of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) Patients in Remission

SIERRA
Start date: May 5, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a progressive disease that affects mainly small and medium joints and, in the absence of appropriate background therapy, leads to progressive joint destruction, functional, psychological, social and occupational repercussions. Several biomedicine treat this pathology, including rituximab (RTX). It is recommended to evaluate the therapeutic response to RTX and re-administer it from the 24th week when the goal of remission has not been achieved. However, the optimal modality for reprocessing remains to be determined. To this end, different approaches have been explored, such as lymphocyte typing or ultrasound monitoring. The pace of these examinations, however, remains wide and their cost is not negligible. This is why we propose here to explore the track of a tight follow-up nurse DAS28. The hypothesis is that a tight nursing follow-up can detect the symptomatic recovery earlier than the current medical follow-up.
