NCT ID: NCT04175886 Terminated - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Effects of Tofacitinib on Body Composition, Bone Mineral Density and Bone Marrow Adiposity in Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis: the TOFAT Project

TOFAT
Start date: February 25, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Inflammatory rheumatic diseases (IRD), such as rheumatoid arthritis, are characterized by adverse changes in body composition. Lean mass and bone mineral density are usually reduced while adiposity (total fat mass, visceral adiposity…) is increased in comparison with healthy controls. Many factors may influence the body composition of those patients such as aging, Disease Modifying Anti-Rheumatic Drugs (DMARDs), nutrition and physical activity. However, data on body composition and adverse changes under DMARDs in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are actually scarce. This is the case with tofacitinib (targeted synthetic DMARD or tsDMARD) while preliminary data let us think that this treatment may influence body composition and bone mineral density. This study is going to be the first to focus on changes in body composition (fat mass and lean mass), bone mineral density and bone marrow adiposity under tofacitinib.

NCT ID: NCT04115839 Terminated - Psoriatic Arthritis Clinical Trials

Study to Evaluate the Efficacy and Safety of Filgotinib in Participants With Active Psoriatic Arthritis Who Have an Inadequate Response or Are Intolerant to Biologic DMARD Therapy

PENGUIN 2
Start date: November 13, 2019
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of filgotinib compared to placebo as assessed by the American College of Rheumatology 20% improvement (ACR20) response in participants with active psoriatic arthritis who have an inadequate response or are intolerant to biologic disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARD) therapy.

NCT ID: NCT04115748 Terminated - Psoriatic Arthritis Clinical Trials

Study to Evaluate the Efficacy and Safety of Filgotinib in Participants With Active Psoriatic Arthritis Who Are Naive to Biologic DMARD Therapy

PENGUIN 1
Start date: December 3, 2019
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of filgotinib compared to placebo as assessed by the American College of Rheumatology 20% improvement (ACR20) response in participants with active psoriatic arthritis who are naive to biologic disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug (DMARD) therapy. The study consists of two parts, the Main Study and the Long Term Extension (LTE).

NCT ID: NCT03970837 Terminated - Clinical trials for Arthritis, Rheumatoid

Efficacy and Safety of GSK3196165 Versus Placebo and Tofacitinib in Participants With Moderately to Severely Active Rheumatoid Arthritis Who Have an Inadequate Response to Conventional Synthetic (cs)/Biologic (b) Disease Modifying Anti-rheumatic Drugs (DMARDs)

contRAst 2
Start date: June 5, 2019
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study [contRAst 2 (201791: NCT03970837)] is a phase 3, randomized, multicenter, double blind study to assess the safety and efficacy of GSK3196165 in combination with csDMARD(s), for the treatment of adult participants with moderate to severe active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who have had an inadequate response to csDMARD(s) or bDMARD(s). The study will consist of a screening phase of up to 6 weeks followed by a 52 week treatment phase in which participants will be randomized in a ratio of 6:6:3:1:1:1 to receive GSK3196165 150 milligrams (mg) subcutaneous (SC) weekly, GSK3196165 90 mg SC weekly, tofacitinib capsules (cap) 5 mg twice a day or placebo (three arms, each placebo arm will have 12 weeks placebo followed by 40 weeks active treatment) respectively, all in combination with csDMARD(s). Participants who, in investigator's judgement will benefit from extended treatment with GSK3196165 may be included in the long-term extension study [contRAst X (209564: NCT04333147)]. For those participants who do not continue into the long term-extension study, there will be an 8 week safety follow-up visit following the treatment phase.

NCT ID: NCT03937856 Terminated - Clinical trials for Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Smartphone Mindfulness Meditation for Patients With Rheumatic Diseases

Start date: May 7, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study will assess the effect of a mindfulness meditation program administered via a smartphone application on health-related quality of life for patients with rheumatic disease.

NCT ID: NCT03856190 Terminated - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Effectiveness of Therapeutic Fasting and Specific Diet in Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis

NutriFast
Start date: March 18, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this trial is an evaluation of the effectiveness of fasting and a subsequent diagnosis-specific diet change in patients with rheumatoid arthritis in respect to improving rheumatic symptoms and further to investigate possible mechanisms of this improvement.

NCT ID: NCT03823924 Terminated - Psoriatic Arthritis Clinical Trials

Changes in Body Composition Under Ustekinumab in PsA

STELARA-CC
Start date: March 11, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

There is not much body composition and bone mineral density data available for patients with psoriatic arthritis (rheumatoid arthritis) compared to control subjects. The evaluation of the total fat mass and in particular of its abdominal distribution (visceral adiposity) is important because an excessive adiposity generates adverse effects on the health (hypertension, dyslipidemia, cardiovascular risk and resistance to the insulin). In addition, data on changes in body composition and bone mineral density were not available under a new psA treatment, namely ustekinumab (anti-IL12 / 23 antibody). It is proposed to conduct a pilot study to evaluate body composition, distribution (visceral adiposity) and bone mineral density in patients with psoriatic arthritis (versus control subjects) and their changes after 6 months of treatment with ustekinumab
