Filter by:In this trial different parts of the pain signalling system involved in two rheumatic diseases - painful hand osteoarthritis and psoriatic arthritis, is examined. These measurements will be compared to those of healthy volunteers The hypothesis is that patients with hand osteoarthritis and psoriatic arthritis react differently to painful and non-painful stimuli compared with the healthy volunteers. The aim is to recruit 66 patients with painful hand-osteoarthritis, 66 patients with painful psoriatic arthritis and 66 healthy subjects not currently suffering from any pain conditions. After completing an informed consent form subjects will participate in a single clinical visit. The pain signalling system is examined using pressure algometry and cuff algometry. A pressure algometer is a pistol shaped device that elicits pressure through a rod and a cuff algometer is akin to a blood pressure cuff. Different thresholds will be measured, such as when the sensation of pressure becomes painful and when the painful pressure becomes unbearable. Participants will also get hand strength tested, have their joints examined and answer questionnaires regarding daily function and quality of life. Furthermore participants will get blood drawn which is analysed for the presence of markers of inflammation and joint degeneration.
A randomized, placebo-controlled trial with blinded outcome assessments will be conducted to evaluate the efficacy and safety of CBD in patients with Hand-OA and PsA during a 12-week treatment period.

A study to describe the one-year persistence in participants treated by Flixabi (infliximab) or Imraldi (Adalimumab) as prescribed by the physician for each of the 5 following indications: Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS), Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA), Crohn's Disease (CD) [adults and children] and Ulcerative Colitis (UC) [adults for both treatments and children only for Flixabi].

Elevated CVD risk is a significant public health problem that contributes greatly to the increased morbidity and shortened lifespan of individuals with RA and PsA. Over the past decades, there has been great progress into the understanding of the severity of CVD risk in these patients but these risk factors are not well managed. The development of the high-risk strategy is therefore necessary, with more intensive therapy reserved for patients identified as high-risk, e.g. because they have high-risk FRS. However, these risk scores under-estimated CV risk in patients with RA and PsA. An intermediate approach is to use quantification of preclinical vascular disease to further identify high-risk patients. Results from this study will provide clinical implications in terms of detecting and managing cardiovascular morbidity in patients with RA and PsA.
Psoriatic arthritis is related with chronic inflammation and progressive radiographic damages, and it in turn lead to disability and loss in function-ability. Recent advance in treatment pathway through anti IL-17 gives promising clinical improvement. Yet, its effect on radiographic progression remains uncertain. This study aimed to ascertain the effect of secukinumab on structural progression in PsA by evaluation through high resolution peripheral quantative computed tomography (HRpqCT).
The PaGoPsA study objective is to ascertain if guideline-based psoriatic arthritis clinical care achieves individual patient goals as articulated by patients, and to identify predictors of achieving individual patient goals from psoriatic arthritis treatment.
This will be a Canadian observational study utilizing a prospective cohort design. Patients with active psoriatic arthritis (PsA) for whom the treating physician has decided, prior to and independently of enrollment in the study, to initiate treatment with Otezla® will be considered for participation in the study. Patients will be enrolled from the practices of predominantly community rheumatologists and will be followed for 12 months from the time of initiation of treatment with Otezla® In line with the observational nature of the study, there will be no protocol imposed tests or assessments. However, recommended follow up visits will be at 4, 8 and 12 months. In addition, patients may be asked to voluntarily complete self-administered questionnaires. The 24-month assessment will be aimed to determine whether or not treatment with Otezla® has been maintained, and if not, to ascertain the reason for discontinuation and what new treatment was initiated following discontinuation of Otezla®
