Filter by:The primary objective of this proposal is to conduct a study that assesses the safety, feasibility and efficacy of using PRP to treat this type of hair loss.
The study team will assess the efficacy of platelet-rich plasma therapy, a special blood product which is from the participant's own body, in the treatment of androgenic alopecia (also known as male pattern hair loss) in females.
Alopecia areata is the most frequent cause of inflammation-induced hair loss with prevalence from 0.1 to 0.2%. It has no age nor sex predilection . Clinically, alopecia areata presents as a well-circumscribed patch of sudden hair loss. It affects any hair bearing area. The most common affected site is the scalp. Based on site and extent, AA can be classified into; diffuse, multi-locularis, mono-locularis, totalis, universalis, and ophiasis.
The trial was a multicentre, randomised, double-blind, placebo controlled phase 2 trial. 60 healthy bald male subjects diagnosed with alopecia, who are between 18 and 55 years old and provide written informed consent were eligible for inclusion. The trial period consisted of a screening period of up to 3 weeks followed by 12 weeks of dosing, three times per week. Each subject received two doses of the five trial treatment doses (placebo, 0.00625, 0.025, 0.050, and 0.100 μg respectively). The doses were given as intradermal injections. On each volunteer, two treatment areas were placed on the head and the two selected doses were allocated to the respective treatment areas according to the randomisation scheme. The treatment areas were selected on the border between the bald surface and the surface with hair. The effect on hair growth was measured by the use of Trichoscan imaging and measuring method at week 8 and 12. A baseline measaure was taken at day 0.
Most common forms of hair loss (alopecia) are caused by aberrant hair follicle cycling and changes in hair follicle morphology. However, current treatments for alopecia do not specifically target these processes. Adipose-derived stromal vascular cells (ADSVCs) that can be harvested from fat cells are one of the latest breakthroughs in the aesthetic field. The potential use of stem cell-based therapies for the repair and regeneration of various tissues and organs offers a paradigm shift that may provide alternative therapeutic solutions. This study aimed at the presentation of clinical cases to suggest a therapeutic plan comprised of acquisition of small volume of fat, followed by injection of ADSVCs in the scalp. 20 patients will be recruited for this study (considering the second group). Hair regeneration will be assessed by the pull test, hair quality, and hair density. All patients must show increased significant improvement of the hair quality and density. The obtained results must prove the efficacy and the safety of the treatment and satisfaction of the patient that will confirm the quality of the results.
This is open label single side study involvement 20 patient treated with Apremilast. Each enrolled patient may be evaluated at by a dermatologist using the Lichen Planopilaris Activity Index and Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia Index. Other measures include physician global assessment, dermatology quality of life and patients analogue score for pruritus. Pt will have visits at Week 0,2,4,8,12,16,20,24
This study evaluates the optimizing parameters of long pulse Nd:YAG Laser for reducing the size of hair shaft diameter of the donor for hair transplantation. All participants will receive long-pulsed Nd-YAG laser treatments with three different parameters at the occipital area.
Androgenetic alopecia is the most common type of alopecia in both men and women. About 80 % of Caucasian men and 40-50 % of Caucasian women are affected by androgenetic alopecia. The psychological impact of hair loss due to Androgenetic alopecia can be profound.
This study is being done to evaluate the effects of fractional photothermolysis (known as laser resurfacing) using fractional laser for the induction of hair follicles via skin rejuvenation in subjects with scalp alopecia (specifically, alopecia on the superior forehead at the frontal hairline). Fractional photothermolysis has been shown to be effective in promoting hair growth. The investigators will study 50 subjects who will be treated 6-10 times at 2-4 week intervals. Each participant will have half of their head treated with a laser, either Fraxel DUAL 1550 or Halo by Sciton, and the other half of their head will be left untreated as a control. Half of the individuals will randomly be assigned to the group to be treated with Fraxel DUAL 1550, and the other half will be treated with Halo by Sciton. Visual observation and digital, photographic, non-invasive imaging will be used to compare the treated and untreated area to assess for differences in hair follicle stimulation rates, number and density of hairs. As noted above, the types of lasers we plan to use include the non-ablative fractional laser settings for the Fraxel DUAL 1550 and Halo by Sciton. A fractional laser is a laser that directs an intense burst of laser energy on the skin. The treatment deposits heat deep into the dermis to tighten skin and stimulate collagen remodeling. The necrotic (death of cells or tissue) injury heals rapidly and adverse effects are few. Laser resurfacing is commonly used for rejuvenation of the skin to improve quality, tone, and texture.
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is an autologous preparation of human plasma with high concentration of platelets. Platelets release numerous growth factors, which stimulate cell proliferation and differentiation. The purpose of this research is to investigate the potential of PRP injection for treatment of hair loss. Clinical outcomes will be assessed by noninvasive techniques including dermoscopy, multiphoton microscopy, optical coherence tomography, optical Doppler tomography and multispectral imaging.
