Filter by:The purpose of this study is to measure the hair growth response to topical NEOSH101 when applied twice daily to the balding scalp for 16 weeks. One hundred eighty men with Norwood/Hamilton grades III-IV with thinning in the top and center of the scalp will participate. Three equally sized treatment groups (60 men each) will receive either topical NEOSH101 2.0%, minoxidil 5%, or placebo.

This is a single center, randomized, investigator-masked study to determine the efficacy and safety of latanoprost and bimatoprost ophthalmic solutions in promoting eyelash growth in patients who have lost their eyelashes due to alopecia areata. These medications are FDA-approved as eyedrops for patients with glaucoma who have been noted to grow longer, darker, and thicker eyelashes with their use. In this study, patients will be asked to apply these solutions to the affected eyelid margins of one eye with a sterile cotton-tipped applicator once a day.
We propose to examine the efficacy and tolerability of Aldara Cream 5% for the treatment of extensive alopecia areata. Aldara is a immune-response modifier. The drug induces the production of cytokines which are small, hormone-like proteins involved in cellular communication during immune responses. We hypothesize that this drug will effect the inflammatory cells present around hair follicles in patients with alopecia areata.
Alopecia areata is an autoimmune condition resulting in hair loss and complete baldness (alopecia totalis). Published evidence says that it is mediated by T-lymphocytes. Plaquenil is an anti-inflammatory drug approved by the FDA for malaria, lupus erythematosus, and rheumatoid arthritis. It has an effect on T-lymphocyte mediated inflammation, making it a logical choice for a treatment trail for alopecia areata.
It has been postulated that Alopecia Areata (AA) is, at least in part, a neurologically mediated disease. Research supporting this theory includes the finding that nerves surrounding the hair follicles are collapsed. We want to take this research a step further and show that not only are these perifollicular nerves collapsed, but that their function is also impaired.
It is thought that alopecia areata occurs as the result of an inappropriate response of the body's own immune system to certain substances in or around the hair follicle. We will be examining the efficacy of Aldara Cream 5% in treating extensive alopecia areata and observe its affect on the hair follicle.
