Effect of a Transversus Abdominis Plane Block on Wound Healing, Stress, and Immune Response After a Cesarean Delivery

Start date: April 1, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The primary purpose of this study is to determine whether the addition of a TAP block to standard analgesia after the cesarean delivery will impact postoperative wound healing and attenuate postoperative stress and immune response. Random allocation of participants in 3 groups: group SA (standard analgesia), group L (TAP block with levobupivacaine), and group D (TAP block with levobupivacaine + dexmedetomidine). All participants will undergo elective cesarean section through Pfannestiel incision under spinal anesthesia. They will receive standard postoperative pain management with acetaminophen, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and tramadol. Groups L and D will additionally receive bilateral ultrasound-guided TAP block with 20 ml 0,25% levobupivacaine or with 20 ml 0,25% levobupivacaine with the addition of 0,5 μg/kg dexmedetomidine. TAP block will be performed in the theatre immediately after the cesarean delivery. Venous blood samples will be collected before the surgery and on the third postoperative day. Complete blood count and serum cortisol levels will be measured. REEDA scale will be used for assessing wound healing.

NCT ID: NCT05839158 Completed - Wound Heal Clinical Trials

Evaluation of the Effect of HFMT in Promoting Donor-site Wound Healing

Start date: March 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Autologous hair transplantation involves follicle extraction, trimming, and implantation. Follicle trimming improves efficiency and postoperative appearance, resulting in the discarded tissue known as hair follicle-derived microtissue (HFMT). In a clinical case, HFMT homogenate was applied to the FUE donor area wound, resulting in reduced pain, relief from itching, and faster healing compared to conventional treatment. This study aims to compare the effects of HFMT on FUE donor area wound healing.

NCT ID: NCT05802602 Recruiting - Wound Heal Clinical Trials

Porcine Membrane vs Bovine Wound Dressing in Human Tooth Extraction Sites

Start date: April 16, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to compare porcine collagen membrane and bovine collagen wound dressing in human tooth extraction sites. The outcomes measured will be soft tissue thickness changes as well as bone density changes.

NCT ID: NCT05765240 Enrolling by invitation - Wound Heal Clinical Trials

The Effects of Topical Hyaluronic Acid and Laser Application on Wound Healing in Children

Start date: February 27, 2023
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

Tooth extraction is one of the major surgical procedures that can cause dental anxiety and dental fear in pediatric patients as a result of traumatic experiences. Preventing pain and infection by appropriate means during and after this application increases patient comfort and helps to develop patient cooperation for possible future dental experiences. In the current literature, it has been shown that topical hyaluronic acid applications have a role in reducing infection and pain. There are also studies in the literature showing that tissue biostimulation with different doses of diode laser application accelerates wound healing by promoting cell regeneration. Although there are studies showing that two different applications accelerate wound healing, there is no study comparing the effectiveness of these two methods. In addition, there is no study evaluating extraction wound healing in pediatric patients. Our study will be the first to evaluate tooth extraction wound healing in pediatric patients and to compare these two methods.

NCT ID: NCT05745935 Recruiting - Wound Heal Clinical Trials

Role of Local Skin Incision Infiltration by Oxytocin On Wound Healing

Start date: March 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

caesarean section rate in Egypt has reached about 60% between primgravidae. Wound complications are of the most common morbidities following cesarean section. The prevalence of wound infection and disruption after cesarean has been reported as 3-15%, averagely speaking 6% and 2-42% in various studies. These complications affect mother's quality of life due to stress, anxiety, delay in mother's ability and health recovery

NCT ID: NCT05743283 Recruiting - Wound Heal Clinical Trials

Efficacy of SynEx Wound Rinse in Civilian Surrogates of Combat Injury Wounds

Start date: April 12, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this interventional study is to compare SynEx Wound Cleanser with the current routine care (Saline) in traumatic wounds. Participants with gunshot, penetrating or burn wounds who participate will be asked to attend up to four study visits, use the assigned wound cleanser and complete brief surveys about their healing and well-being related to the wound healing.

NCT ID: NCT05739214 Completed - Diabetic Foot Clinical Trials

Violet-Blue Light Inactivation of Bacteria in Chronic Wounds

Start date: March 22, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This four-week prospective clinical investigation will assess the safety and feasibility of a medical device without CE-marking. The medical device is a light-emitting-diode (LED) and is manufactured by VulCur MedTech Aps. Violet-blue light treatment is tested on a total of twenty-two patients with chronic wounds, divided into three groups, each group only receiving one dosage. Three dosages (low, medium and high) of violet-blue light treatment is tested. ID 1-7 are assigned to the low group, ID 8-15 are assigned to medium group and ID 16-22 are assigned to the high dosage group.

Scar Appearance After Postoperative Hydrocolloid Dressing Versus Standard Petrolatum Ointment

Start date: October 17, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Patients will be randomized either to receive standard daily dressing or hydrocolloid dressing using a randomization generator. After closing the wound with the sutures, the scar will be covered by a hydrocolloid dressing, which will be left in place for 7 days(Experimental) or the standard dressing (Control) that will be covered with petrolatum jelly and bandaging during this time period, which has to be re-applied daily. Patients and dermatologic surgeons will then complete surveys 7 days, 30 days, and 90 days after surgery to evaluate the cosmetic appearance of these scars.
