This double-blind, cross-over, randomized, controlled trial (RCT) has the aim of evaluating the effectiveness of a metabolic support therapy in two cohorts of patients with idiopathic Autism Spectrum Disorder or Phelan-McDermid syndrome, commonly associated with syndromic autism. Each patient will receive Q10 ubiquinol + Vit. E and B for 4 months and only Vit. E and B for 4 months in a double-blind, cross-over design. Primary outcome measures of efficacy include Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales, Childhood Autism Rating Scale, Clinical Global Impression-Improvement and Visual Analog Scales; secondary outcome measures include several questionnaires and tests of autism, cognitive function, problem behaviors, quality of life, communication and comorbid disorders, as well as measures of oxidative stress.

The design of the study includes 3 groups for women with premenstrual syndrome, 1low dose acupuncture in the low-dose group, 2 high dose acupuncture in the high-dose group, and 3 the drug group (contraceptives) . Serum marker change of PGE2, CA125, E2, and progesterone in enrolled patients will be measured before and after treatment, along with VAS and MDQ questionnaires. The treatment efficacy of different groups and the relationship between PMS and patients TCM syndrome pattern will also be recorded and estimated.

Direct Information to At-risk Relatives

This study evaluates if uptake of genetic counselling in high-risk families is increased when patients at cancer genetics clinics are being offered healthcare-assisted disclosure to at-risk relatives compared to current standard care (with family-mediated disclosure). Patients/families who have undergone a cancer genetic investigation will be invited to participate in the study. All participants will receive standard care. Half of them will in addition be offered a healthcare-assisted disclosure with the service of direct letters to identified at-risk relatives distributed by the healthcare provider. After a year we will compare the proportion of at-risk relatives who have contacted a cancer genetic clinics in each study arm.

Comparison of Two Stretching Techniques in Patients Suffering From Subacromial Syndrome

The shoulder stability has always been related to the rotator cuff complex, although more and more is contemplated the Teres Major muscle and its affectation in the shape of the trigger points within this pathology. As non-invasive measures for the deactivation of these myofascial points, Travell and Simons recommended the pressure maintained along with muscular stretch. Stretching are usually a technique widely used in our practice as physiotherapists and it is necessary to study its effects in the clinic. As an objective we plan to compare the effect of passive stretching in short lever according to the Orthopaedic Manual Therapy concept if it produces better result in the pain, the rank of movement and in the Function, with the effect of stretching by means of a long lever in affected patients of subacromial syndrome. This is a randomized controlled study with blind evaluator approved by the Ethical Committee of the Institut d'Investigació en atenció Primaria Jordi Gol. After checking the inclusion and exclusion criteria, you will be asked, voluntarily, that the patient sign informed consent. The variables will then be valued independent and dependent on the study. It will randomly be assigned to one of the three groups in the study. The 3 groups receive the protocolized treatment for the service they consist of In superficial thermotherapy, an educational talk and kinesitherapy. The intervention groups will receive alternate days, with a total of six sessions, the stretch corresponding to the group to which they have been assigned. In the case of the Long Lever Group, the intervention consists in a rotary stretch through the humerus as a mobile point. And in the case of the Short Lever Group a stretch of translocation through the scapula as a mobile point. The main variables used will be: age, side effects, habits involving the shoulder, pain intensity, pain threshold at pressure and function, among others. The dependent variables will be measured: pain intensity by means of Analogue Scale Visual, the function through the Constant-Murley test, the Movement Range with Goniometer and the Pressure Threshold Pain with a pressure gauge brand Stech.

Local anesthetic resistance is commonly reported by patients with EDS. However, there are no objective data on the occurrence of local anesthetic resistance in EDS patients and in healthy volunteers. We propose to collect such objective data on the frequency of drug resistance and whether any problems with local anesthesia are due to initial ineffectiveness or due to its effects dissipating too soon.

Treatment of Chronic Prostatitis/ Pelvic Pain Syndrome With Low-intensity Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy

This study is a prospective, randomized, single-blinded, cross-over trial to investigate the efficacy of low-intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy in the treatment of chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS). We will enroll 60 subjects with Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Index (CPSI) > 15. 30 subjects receive ESWT (LM-IASO, Litemed Co., Taiwan) for 6 courses in 3 weeks (0.05mJ/mm2, 3000 pulses) and 30 subjects receive Sham therapy for 3 weeks (the machine turning on but the energy is zero). After 3 weeks, the two groups are cross over, for additional 6 courses. The primary outcome is the the 4th week change from baseline for CPSI score. Secondary outcomes are the 8th week change from baseline for CPSI score, IIEF, QoL; AEs. The between-group relationships of baseline and 4-week data were evaluated by using the Student's t-test or Mann-Whitney U-test where appropriate. Multiple linear regression was carried out to test the variables associated with treatment outcome. P-values < 0.05 were considered statistically significant.
