Kelaa Mental Resilience App for Employees

The goal of this randomized control trial is to detect and prevent work-related psychological stress among European workers early on, aiming to mitigate its adverse health consequences, including burnout and depression. Soma Analytics has developed a smartphone-based system that comprises a diagnostic module utilizing smartphone sensors to collect and analyze stress biomarkers and an interventional module to reduce stress levels. The main questions this study aims to answer are: - Hypothesis 1: Compared to the waitlist control, after using the app for 4 weeks, participants in the app group will report (a) lower levels of stress (cognitive and general), (b) higher levels of wellbeing, (c) higher levels of resilience, and (d) fewer sleeping troubles. - Hypothesis 2: The observed effects will be more intense the more the user interacts with the app throughout the duration of the study. Participants (employees from six organizations in three European countries) will use the app for 4 weeks. Their levels of stress, well-being, resilience, and sleeping troubles are assessed at baseline, after 2 weeks (mid-intervention), 4 weeks (end of intervention), and 6 weeks (follow-up). Researchers will compare the intervention group with the waitlist control group to see if levels of stress, well-being, resilience, and sleeping troubles change over time.

A Study to Evaluate the Effect of SlimBiotics Probiotic Formula on Weight Management and Metabolic Health Outcomes

This study is to evaluate the efficacy of a probiotic supplement on weight management and metabolic health. This study will be conducted as a hybrid trial consisting of both in-person visits and virtual assessments. Two groups will be included: the intervention (SlimBiotics Probiotic) and placebo. The SlimBiotics probiotic formula is the first plant-based probiotic targeting weight management and metabolic health. Other competing probiotics are isolated from humans (feces) but the strains in SlimBiotics were isolated from a fermented plant (millet porridge cereal). The Impact of a Race-Based Stress Reduction Intervention

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn whether a stress reduction program called Resilience, Stress, and Ethnicity (RiSE) improves well-being, inflammation, and the epigenome in African American (AA) women who have risk factors for heart or metabolic disease. The main question it aims to answer is whether an intervention that integrates cognitive-behavioral strategies focused on the impact that social stress, such as racism, has on the body, racial identity development, and empowerment. Participants will placed in one of the two following groups: - The RiSE program will focus on teaching participants how to reduce their stress levels and will meet online weekly for approximately 2 hours each week for 8 consecutive weeks. - The Health Education program will include education on how to improve general health and will meet online weekly for approximately 2 hours each week for 8 consecutive weeks. Participants will provide saliva to measure cytokines and DNA methylation (DNAm), complete questionnaires, and have blood pressure, heart rate, and weight measured at the following clinic visits: 1. Prior to starting the intervention 2. Mid-way through the intervention (Week 4) 3. End of the intervention (Week 8) 4. Six (6) months after the completion of the intervention

JoyPop Mobile Mental Health App With Indigenous Youth

Indigenous youth in Northwestern Ontario who need mental health supports experience longer waits than non-Indigenous youth within the region and when compared to youth in other more urban areas. Limited access and extended waits can exacerbate symptoms, prolong distress, and increase risk for more serious outcomes. Novel, innovative approaches are urgently needed to provide support for Indigenous youth in Northwestern Ontario. In partnership with Dilico Anishinabek Family Care, the investigators are evaluating the impact of a mental health app (JoyPop) as a tool for Indigenous youth who are waiting for mental health services. The JoyPop app was developed to support improved emotion regulation - a key difficulty for youth presenting with mental health challenges. A two-arm randomized controlled trial (RCT) will be used to evaluate the effectiveness of the app compared to usual practice while Indigenous youth are waiting for mental health services.

The goal of this randomized controlled trial is to examine the effects of a walking intervention (3 walks per week for a period of 4 weeks) in a nature vs. urban setting on the wellbeing of young adult postsecondary students. We will examine changes in positive and negative affect for participants assigned to the nature condition vs those assigned to the urban condition (primary outcome). We will also examine changes in reported depression and anxiety symptoms, perceived stress levels, sleep quality, mindfulness and wellbeing (secondary outcome).
