Neuromodulation in Professional Dancers

Tendinopathy of the flexor hallucis longus (FHL), colloquially referred to as "dancer's tendinitis," is a common condition in dancers and attributed to high demand on this muscle in positions of extreme ankle plantarflexion and metatarsophalangeal (MTP) flexion and extension. Tradicional conservative treatment includes rest from pain-inducing activities including pointe work and jumping, physical therapy a focusing on movilization of the joints of the first ray and subtalar joint, and antiinflamatory medications. Unfortunately, dancer frecuently do not follow recommendations to rest due to the competitive nature of the field. Those who do not respond to conservative treatment undergo more serious interventions including steroid injections or surgery, each with additional risks and recovery time. To develop experimental protocols aimed at prevention and nonsurgical interventions are needed. Therefore, the aim of this study was To investigate the effects of one shot of low-frequency percutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (PENS) vs. one shot of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) in performance of the Flexor Hallucis Longus muscle in young dancers.

Evaluation of the Effect of Rehabilitation Sport After Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA)

160 patients who received a total hip arthroplasty (THA) were included and randomized to receive specific rehabilitation sport (RS) or not (control) in addition to a conventional rehabilitation program. Upon completion of the rehabilitation phase 6 weeks, 6 months and 12 months after surgery sports medical measurements have been performed. Strength abilities of the hip muscles were tested with isokinetic dynamometry, postural control with a force measuring platform and endurance via lactate measurements.

Effects of Two Multimodal-programs of Exercises in Male Soccer Players.

The prevention of injuries has a close relation with the proprioception. In this sense, the proprioception is defined as the information about the corporal and segmental movement, as well as the position of the body and the corporal segments of oneself in the space. Some authors divide the proprioception into kinesthesia and the Joint Position Sense (JPS). The hypothesis of the study is the implantation of a progressive multimodal exercise protocol with transferences to sport in the trainings of amateur male soccer players in the age range from 18 to 30 years, can decrease the adverse effects of the fatigue during the high intensity activities and its relation with the JPS. Due to the close relation between fatigue and incidence of injuries, the obtaining of positive results could be an important finding for the design of prevention and rehabilitation protocols in soccer.

Relationship Between Muscle Strength,Anaerobic,Aerobic Capacity,and Sportive Performance in WC Basketball Athletes

The aim of the study is to investigate the relationship between shoulder internal and external rotation isokinetic muscle strength, grip strength, anaerobic capacity, aerobic capacity and sportive performance in wheelchair basketball athletes. Through this work, we aim to contribute to the literature with objective, blood-based results. The wheelchair (WC) basketball characterizes high intensity activities such as rolling, rebounding, rolling, smashing overhead. Because these activities are fast and powerful, they require both anaerobic and aerobic capacities. The main factors affecting WC Basketball performance are upper extremity muscle strength and aerobic capacity. It is stated that higher muscle power and aerobic performance in WC Basketball will provide more independence in daily life activities as well as increased speed and power during sports play. WC basketball players have both a spore-specific activities and a shoulder rotational muscle strength aerobic power components have a critical functional role when using a wheelchair. When the literature on this subject is examined, it is seen that there is a limited number of works for WC basketball sport which is very popular nowadays. Assessment of upper limb muscle strength, aerobic capacity and sporting performance in wheelchair basketball athletes is crucial in regulating the athletes' training programs and establishing individual training programs.
