Do Taping and Orthosis Affect Pain, Gait, or Functionality in Mild Knee Osteoarthritis?

Start date: January 5, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the effects of elastic taping, rigid taping, and braces applied to women with mild knee Osteoartritis(OA) on pain, gait, and knee functionality. Methods: This randomised study included 21 female patients (mean age of 53.81±6.20 years) with bilateral grade 2 knee OA according to the Kellgren & Lawrence Classification. Pain was evaluated with the visual analog scale, functionality was evaluated with the Western Ontario McMaster Osteoarthritis Index, and the kinetic, kinematic, and spatiotemporal parameters were evaluated using a three-dimensional gait analysis system at baseline (no application) and immediately after the application of elastic taping, rigid taping, and orthoses. The dependent variables were measured after 45 minute the application of four different conditions neutral, elastic taping, rigid taping, and knee brace on each participant with 1-day intervals.

NCT ID: NCT05737173 Completed - Clinical trials for Osteo Arthritis Knee

Intraarticular Leukocyte-rich and Leukocyte-poor PRP for Osteoarthritis of the Knee

PRP
Start date: August 3, 2020
Phase: Phase 2/Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

To compare the efficacy of intraarticular knee injection between leukocyte-rich and leukocyte-poor platelet-rich plasma in knee osteoarthritis treatment

NCT ID: NCT05723029 Completed - Knee Osteoarthritis Clinical Trials

Bowen Technique and Post Isometric Relaxation in Knee Osteoarthritis Patients

Start date: January 18, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The Hamstring muscles are present at the posterior surface of the thigh. The muscles start in the gluteal region and run back of the thigh and insert into the popliteal fossa. The function of hamstring muscles flexes the knee and extension of the thigh. In degenerative joint disease, muscles tightness of the lower extremity leads to a decrease in joint flexibility. In knee joint osteoarthritis, hamstring muscles are more prone to tightness. The objective of this study is to compare the effects of the Bowen technique and Post Isometric Relaxation on pain, range of motion, and hamstring flexibility in knee osteoarthritis patients.

NCT ID: NCT05722626 Completed - Clinical trials for Osteoarthritis, Knee

The Effects of Intra-articular Platelet-Rich Plasma Injection on The Severity of Knee Osteoarthritis

Start date: January 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This is a single-center, randomized control trial The aim of this study is to compare PRP with placebo as the treatment of knee OA Conducted at Puri Raharja Hospital Bali in January-June 2022 Sample consisted of 106 patients with knee OA grades 2-3 Kellgren-Lawrence, randomized into PRP group and placebo group Samples were injected with 2 ml PRP or normal saline twice at one-week interval The severity of knee OA was assessed by Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) before injection and two weeks after the first injection.

NCT ID: NCT05707000 Completed - Knee Osteoarthritis Clinical Trials

Comparison of Quadriceps Strengthening and Kinesiotaping on Gait in Knee Osteoarthritis

Start date: January 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this research is to determine the Effects of facilitatory Kinesio-taping and concentric quadriceps strengthening on gait parameters in knee osteoarthritis. Randomized clinical trials will be done at Physio Experts Clinic, Islamabad. The sample size is 38. The subjects were divided in two groups, with 19 subjects in Group A and 19 in Group B. Study duration was of 6 months. Sampling technique applied was Non probability Convenience Sampling technique. Both males and females of aged 50-60 years with Knee OA grade 2 or 3 were included. Tools used in the study are Numeric Pain Rating Score (NPRS), dynamometer, WOMAC questionnaire and Mobile app for measuring Temporospatial gait parameters.

NCT ID: NCT05703087 Completed - Clinical trials for Osteoarthritis, Knee

Positive Cueing in Knee Arthroplasty.

Start date: September 21, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

To the knowledge of the investigators, the feasibility of an RCT assessing the use of positive cueing in an information video for patients undergoing primary TKA is currently unclear. The investigators conducted a feasibility study with the primary objective to assess the acceptability of the randomized controlled trial (RCT) procedure for participating patients. The secondary objective was to evaluate the rate of recruitment, the comprehensibility (do patients understand what is expected of them during the trial) and if there were any adjustments necessary to the design of the study. The outcome of the current feasibility study will be used to determine whether adjustments are required to the design of the RCT before we proceed.

NCT ID: NCT05698368 Completed - Knee Osteoarthritis Clinical Trials

Digital Knee Osteoarthritis Mindset Intervention

Start date: April 10, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of our clinical trial is to test if an online mindset intervention improves mindsets and physical activity levels more than an education intervention in individuals with knee osteoarthritis.

Whole-Body Electromyostimulation and Knee Osteoarthritis

EMSOAT
Start date: June 1, 2022
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The aim of the present study is to evaluate the effects of WB-EMS application in overweight women and men with knee osteoarthritis, with special consideration of sustainability. In this randomised controlled trial 72 overweight patients with knee osteoarthritis aged 40-70 years will be included and randomly assigned to two groups (WB-EMS vs. control group (CG)). The intervention group will perform six WB-EMS sessions/month of 20 min for 6 months. An intermittent low frequency WB-EMS-protocol with an impulse phase of 6s, followed by an impulse break of 4s will be applied. The control group will undergo a tailored physiotherapy program of 6 sessions defined as usual care. In addition, both groups will complete a self-management training programme for osteoarthritis of 6 sessions over 12 weeks.
