Adjunctive Celecoxib in Childhood-onset OCD Study

ACE-OCD
Start date: June 1, 2021
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This is a randomized, controlled, single-centre phase II superiority trial to determine the efficacy of 12 weeks of celecoxib (50 mg or 100 mg orally twice daily, dosed based on weight) compared to placebo as an adjunct to treatment-as-usual in children and youth with moderate-to-severe obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Efficacy and Safety Study of Adjunctive Troriluzole in Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Start date: December 22, 2020
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The study's purpose is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of troriluzole as adjunctive therapy compared to placebo in subjects with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

NCT ID: NCT04631042 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Developing Brain, Impulsivity and Compulsivity

Start date: September 30, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Background: Impulsivity is acting 'without thinking.' Compulsivity is being overly inflexible. People vary in how impulsive or compulsive they are. Extreme versions of these behaviors play a role in mental disorders. Researchers want to study changes in the brain to learn more about these behaviors. Differences in genes may also play a role. Objective: To learn about genetic and brain features that explain why levels of impulsivity and compulsivity vary across people. Eligibility: People ages 6-80 Design: Participants will be screened with a medical history and medical record review. Participants will talk about their mental and behavioral development. They may discuss topics like drug use and sexual activity. They will complete surveys about their compulsivity and impulsivity. Parents of child participants may also complete these surveys. Participants may take memory, attention, and thinking tests. They may give blood or saliva samples for gene studies. Participants may have a magnetic resonance imaging scan. It will take pictures of their brain. The scanner is shaped like a cylinder. Participants will lie on a table that slides in and out of the scanner. A coil will be placed over their head. They will lie still, watch a movie, and play a game. Participants may have a magnetoencephalography scan. It records brain activity. Participants will sit in a room. A 'cone' of magnetic field detectors will be lowered around their head. They will rest and play a game. Participants may ask family members to join the study. Participants under age 25 may repeat these tests every 1-2 years until they turn 25 or until the study ends. For those over age 25, participation will last less than 1 month.

NCT ID: NCT04580043 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

Theta Burst Stimulation Plus Habit Override Training for Compulsive Behaviors

Start date: December 28, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This project seeks to identify causal neural mechanisms underlying unwanted, repetitive behaviors (compulsions). Using non-invasive brain stimulation coupled with practice in a computer task, we will modulate activity in a target brain region and measure effects on compulsive behaviors and related measures. This work could ultimately lead to the ability to treat compulsions more effectively by targeting the regions of the brain that can help or hinder attempts to overcome compulsions.

NCT ID: NCT04548609 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) in Pediatric Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Start date: January 25, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

In this study, the investigators aim to understand the role of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) in modulating aberrant neurocognitive processes implicated in pediatric patients with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).

NCT ID: NCT04539951 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

Pragmatic Trial of Obsessive-compulsive Disorder

Proceed
Start date: September 22, 2020
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This study includes a sequenced clinical trial in order to assess the efficacy of several switching or augment strategies when initial treatment is ineffective, and to provide strong evidence for clinical practice and international guidelines for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder treatments.

NCT ID: NCT04527302 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

Efficacy of Augmentation of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy With Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Start date: October 26, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study aims to evaluate the feasibility and clinical outcome of the Exposure-based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) concurrent with Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) in treating obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) patients, and explores the potential neural mechanisms of treatment effect by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and electroencephalography (EEG).

NCT ID: NCT04480918 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Major Depressive Disorder

University of Iowa Interventional Psychiatry Service Patient Registry

Start date: November 2, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of interventional/procedural therapies for treatment-resistant depression (TRD) and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). These treatments include electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), racemic ketamine infusion and intranasal esketamine insufflation. The investigators will obtain various indicators, or biomarkers, of a depressed individuals' state before, during, and/or after these treatments. Such biomarkers include neurobehavioral testing, neuroimaging, electroencephalography, cognitive testing, vocal recordings, epi/genetic testing, and autonomic nervous system measures (i.e. "fight-or-flight" response). The results obtained from this study may provide novel antidepressant treatment response biomarkers, with the future goal of targeting a given treatment to an individual patient ("personalized medicine").

NCT ID: NCT04426773 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

Electroencephalography (EEG) Predictors of Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Start date: July 1, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study is designed to find Electroencephalogram (EEG) biomarkers to predict transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) response in obsessive-compulsive disorder.

NCT ID: NCT04336228 Recruiting - Healthy Individuals Clinical Trials

The Role of Serotonin in Compulsive Behavior in Humans: Underlying Brain Mechanisms

Start date: April 1, 2020
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this project is to investigate: - The status of the central serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) system in compulsive behaviour and how it is affected by sub-chronic escitalopram administration - The mechanisms underlying how sub-chronic administration of escitalopram affects the central 5-HT system - How changes in cognitive performance, including the balance between habitual and goal-directed mechanisms, are affected in compulsive behaviour by boosting 5-HT function - How functional brain changes in cognitive function measured with magnetic resonance imaging relate to altered 5-HT function following escitalopram administration.
