This is a Phase 2, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study to assess the effects of AK002, given monthly for 4 doses. It is hypothesized that AK002 is more effective than placebo control (alternative hypothesis) in reducing the number of eosinophils per high power field (HPF) in gastric and/or duodenal biopsies before and after receiving AK002 or placebo versus no difference between AK002 and placebo control (null hypothesis).

Safety Trial of Herbal Melanin in Gastritis Patients

The aim of the study is to use Melanole, a herbal extract from Nigella sativa, for treatment of gastritis. The effect of Melanole will be compared between participants (including H. pylori and non-H.pylori infected patients), with the triple therapy and Standard of care treatment of gastritis, respectively. All participants will be examined before and after the administration of Melanole. The results showing a relief of gastritis symptoms for non-H. pylori patients and partial or complete eradication of H. pylori for H.pylori infected patients will be evaluated.

Chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) is acknowledged as the precancerous stage of gastric cancer (GC). The present study aims to explore Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) syndrome features in different stages of CAG malignant transformation respectively. The proposed study is a cross-sectional study based participant survey conducted in 4 hospitals in Beijing, China. After obtaining informed consent, a total of 2000 study patients will be recruited on-site in hospitals.
