Filter by:The study was aimed to determine whether perioperative nutrition treat and(or)the perioperative disease activity were associated with postoperative recurrence and complications after bowel resection for Crohn's disease.
The purpose of the study is to test an online behavioral intervention to improve medication adherence in children diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Interested families will be monitored for four weeks to determine how frequently their child's IBD medication is taken. Patient's taking less than 90% of medications will be randomized to one of two intervention conditions to complete intervention sessions online. The study consists of 4 online intervention sessions with topics differing by condition and 5 online assessments to complete quality of life questionnaires over a 14 month time frame.
The structural/RSN study involves Structural and Resting State Neuroimaging. The purpose of Structural Neuroimaging is to use MRI technology to identify cortical and white matter morphometric differences between patients with chronic pain conditions and healthy control subjects. The purpose of the Resting State Neuroimaging study is to use functional MRI to identify possible disease related differences in various resting state networks in the brain. In addition we are looking at the effect gut microbiota on brain function in healthy and IBS participants. The overall goal is to identify structural and functional brain differences in persons with chronic pain conditions such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS, Cyclical Vomiting Syndrome(CVS) and vestibulodynia/vulvodynia. We are also looking at Inflammatory Bowel Disease(ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. We will be comparing differences between these conditions and matched healthy control subjects.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the clinical efficacy of D9421-C 9 mg once daily compared to Mesalazine 1 g three times a day to patients with mild to moderate active Crohn's disease affecting ileum, ileocecal region and/or ascending colon as defined by a score of 180-400 on the Crohn's Disease Activity Index (CDAI) by assessment of the remission after 8-week treatment defined by a CDAI score of ≤ 150.
A growing number of patients with Crohn's disease are treated with immunosuppressive agents, such as anti-tumor necrosis factor blockers and immunomodulators. Several recent studies have indicated that immunosuppressive treatment may impair the immunological response to pneumococcal vaccination in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and Ulcerative colitis). One of weaknesses in the previous studies did not focus on specific disease, such as Crohn's disease. In addition, predictive factors affecting impaired response following pneumococcal vaccination have not clearly evaluated in patients with Crohn's disease. In this study, patients with Crohn's disease will be assessed for serological response to pneumococcal vaccination. Further, potential predictive factors that impact on vaccination outcomes and adverse events related to vaccination will be evaluated.
Examine whether daily oral ingestion of a immunomodulatory mushroom extract (AndoSanTM) in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD), experience clinical, biochemical and genetical improvement in their disease. A prospective randomised study comparing the mushroom extract with placebo.
The purpose of this study is to test the effects of study drug (GSK1605786) on the blood levels of multiple commonly used drugs that are given to measure how your liver breaks down the study drug. These commonly-used drugs are midazolam, pioglitazone, omeprazole, and rosuvastatin which will determine the effect of GSK1605786 on how the body breaks down (metabolizes) these commonly-used drugs. Blood samples for pharmacokinetic analysis of GSK1605786, and two metabolites, [GSK2635622 (CCX062) and GSK2656694 (CCX304)] and four probe substrates will be collected over a 24-hour period after administration. Safety will be assessed by the measurement of vital signs, cardiac monitoring, collection of adverse event assessments and laboratory tests.
The objective of this study is to determine whether the finger tip images captured by the EPIC ClearView device, when analyzed via the ClearView software, produce a Response Scale that characterizes trends consistent with known diagnoses identified by medical doctors. Specifically, the investigators hypothesize that the organ system involving any of a series of known active diagnoses will be identified in the EPIC ClearView Response Scale report with the intention of providing potential triage capabilities.
The study hypothesis is to establish the safety and tolerability of long-term open-label (OL) CP-690,550 therapy in subjects with Crohn's disease.
The aim of the study is to do a 7-year follow-up of a consecutive inception cohort of 562 adults and children diagnosed and registered with inflammatory bowel disease in 2003-04 in order to evaluate the consequences of biological therapy in the treatment of IBD. The cohort is established after the implementation of biological agents in the treatment of IBD and the investigators hypothesis is that a) Severe disease course in IBD can be predicted by phenotypic presentation by serological, genetic, clinical and endoscopic characteristics to be used as guidance in the selection of treatment strategy and b) Introduction of biological treatment changes the course of disease in IBD and reduces the need of surgical procedures. Methods: Medical records will be reviewed to register the use of medication, flare ups (medical and surgical) and hospital admissions. Diagnosis, disease localization and behavior will be evaluated. At outpatient visits patients will get a clinical examination, blood and faeces will be collected to biobank and patients will be offered an endoscopical examination. The Montreal classification, The Harvey & Bradshaw's activity index (CD) and the SCAAI score (UC) will be used to describe disease localization, extent, behavior and severity. An electronic database will be established in use of processing data.
