There are about 5161 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Norway. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Mixed methods study with focus groups interviews and a prospective observational cohort study aimed to investigate the impact of advanced home care on transplant specific outcomes and quality of life in recipients of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation
The primary objective of the trial is to establish the effects of dietary sulfur amino acid (SAA) restriction on body weight, body composition and energy expenditure in humans.
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common sustained cardiac rhythm disorder. The most serious common complication of AF is ischemic stroke. The aim of this study is to investigate the yield of AF screening with a continuous ECG monitor (ECG247) and to estimate the prevalence of silent AF
The study will be a multicenter, multinational, prospective single arm blinded study to validate DXT's performance to identify patients at increased risk of weaning failure during the spontaneous breathing trial (SBT). Continuous diaphragmatic excursion measurements by DXT will be conducted during the patients' first SBT. The recording shall be initiated 15 minutes prior to the first SBT and will end 15 minutes post SBT. All patients on mechanical ventilation in the ICU meeting the eligibility criteria shall undergo a daily screen for weaning readiness. If any of the components of the daily screen is not met, the patient will not undergo a SBT that day and continued to be screened daily. Patients passing daily screening criteria shall automatically receive an SBT. The SBT shall last for 30-120 minutes and be performed on continuous positive airway pressure up to 5 cm H2O and pressure support up to 7 cm H2O. The SBT shall be terminated and mechanical ventilation reinstituted at the original settings if the patient meets any of the SBT failure criteria. A trial is considered successful and physicians will be asked to approve extubation when the patient can breathe spontaneously for the whole trial. Patients shall be continued to be screened daily until extubation, 21 days after enrolment, performance of tracheostomy, death, or withdrawal of care. All patients shall be followed until hospital discharge or death.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of eptinezumab in participants with episodic Cluster Headache (eCH)
This is a phase 3, multicenter, randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled, parallel-group trial to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and effect on QoL/PRO of efgartigimod PH20 SC treatment in adult patients with primary ITP.
The overarching objective for this prospective cohort study of COVID-19 in adolescents is to study the long-term effects, with particular emphasis on post-infectious chronic fatigue. A total of 500 individuals with a SARS-CoV-2 positive test will be enrolled in the acute phase of COVID-19 and followed for 6 months. A total of 100 individuals with SARS-CoV-2 negative test will be included during the same time period as a control group. Investigations include autonomic, pulmonary and cognitive assessement; a questionnaire charting symptoms, emotionality, personality, loneliness, life events and demographics; and extensive biobanking including genetic markers, viable PBMC, urine, feces and hair. A subgroup of 40 SARS-CoV-2 positive and 20 SARS-CoV-2 negative individuals will also undergo detailed cardiological examination by echocardiography. Primary endpoints are fatigue at 6 months as assessed by the Chalder Fatigue Scale and post-COVID-19 syndrome cases at 6 months according to the WHO definition
This prospective randomized non-inferiority study is designed to compare the rate and severity of complications after axillary and inguinal lymph node dissection in stage III melanoma patients in a study group where the drain is left in place for three weeks and a control group consisting of patients managed according to the standard institutional protocol. Furthermore, variables associated with complications will be examined.
Dietary fiber is well known to have health promoting effects, including reduced blood glucose and cholesterol levels. Bread is the most important source of dietary fiber in the Norwegian diet. Production of bread has changed from the traditionally use of sourdough, to yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) as the dominating leavening agent in modern industrial production. Sourdough naturally contains bacteria, and through the fermentation process these bacteria release several components that are not found in modern bread using yeast. It has been shown that sourdough may have positive health effects, including on blood glucose regulation. The aim of the project is to investigate if intake of sourdough may give positive health effects compared to beard with yeast.
Macular hole is a full thickness retinal defect in the very centre of the retina that gives the sharpest vision. The condition causes a substantial deterioration of visual acuity, and operative measures are necessary in order to close the defect and improve the visual function. A macular hole has varying degrees of retinal oedema surrounding the hole edges. The oedema is maintained by continuous of liquid into the tissue and effectively prevents spontaneous closure. For that reason it is essential for macular hole closure that the macula has minimal contact with intraocular fluid in the very early postoperative phase. This is why the treatment included a long-lasting intraocular gas tamponade and typically, one week of face-down positioning (FDP) after surgery. Our aim is to investigate the impact of diurnal, orthostatic, and gravitational variations on macular hole morphology before and after surgery. The participants will be examinated with optical coherence tomography 8-10 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm. Between 8 am and 1 pm ,the patient is encouraged to an upright position. After the 1 pm examination, the patient will be positioned flat on the side of the eye with macular hole until the 3 pm examination. The surgery will be performed before 10 am. Postoperatively a randomization to face down positioning or no positioning until 3 am. Optical coherence tomography images through gas tamponade is made at 3 am.
