Filter by:This retrospective observational study aims to report distribution of the proportion of symptomatic Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients classified by the COPD Assessment Test (CAT) managed with single or dual inhaler treatment using the data at cohort entry in the COPD cohort study, and treatment change and longitudinal CAT score by each inhaler treatment will also be evaluated using the data during the follow-up period.
Patients with chronic respiratory diseases present in addition to respiratory symptoms, peripheral muscle dysfunction, which contributes to functional impairment. The aim of the study is to investigate the safety of whole-body electrical stimulation in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Patients will perform two whole body electrostimulation protocols, with an interval of one week between them. The primary outcome will be the safety of electrical stimulation through peripheral oxygen saturation, respiratory rate, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, heart rate, dyspnea and fatigue (Borg subjective perceived exertion scale), autonomic control (rate variability cardiac arrest) and occurrence of adverse events. Secondary outcomes will be muscle damage assessed by serum creatine kinase level, muscle fatigue assessed by serum lactate level, delayed onset muscle soreness assessed by visual numerical scale, and peripheral muscle strength by dynamometry.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of PNF technique combined with aerobic exercises among COPD patients in a clinical setting. Previous literature has evaluated this technique in ventilated patients but in clinical setting specifically in Pakistan, this invention therapy has not been implied in COPD patients.
High-intensity exercise is essential for optimal development of cardiorespiratory fitness and health. This is, however, challenging for most people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) due to ventilatory limitations, leading to exercise at lower intensities accompanied by suboptimal stress on the cardiovascular and muscular system. The aims of this cross-over trial is: 1. To compare the acute effects of short-duration supramaximal high-intensity interval training (HIIT) vs. traditional moderate-intensity continuous training (MICT) in people with COPD and matched healthy controls (HC). 2. To investigate the feasibility of supramaximal HIIT in people with COPD and matched HC. 3. To compare the cardiorespiratory demand, exercise intensity and symptoms during a modified Borg Cycle Strength Test (BCST) and a cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) in people with COPD and HC.
To evaluate efficacy of CPAP Therapy on Pulmonary Function Test in Patients With COPD-OSA Overlap Syndrome
The population of the study was composed of 186 patients whose cells were assigned to Atatürk University Hospital Educational Diseases Polyclinic between April and June 2023, and whose cells were found to have COPD according to the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Initiative by the physician. A total of 140 patients approved the inclusion criteria and agreed to participate in the study. Priori power analysis was performed for sampling determination. In the power analysis, Cohen's medium effect size reference method was chosen. As a result of the power analysis, it was determined that it should be done with a total of 90 patients, 30 patients in each group, two experimental groups and the control group (α=0.05, power=0.8, and effect expectation=0.65). In case of data loss, this number plus approximately 20% reserve allocation included 36 patients in each group. However, the study was completed with a total of 96 patients, including PMR(n=31), DB(n=32) and 33 control subjects.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the potential for cardiac repolarization, according to electrocardiographic monitoring (including QT and QTc intervals), of two dose levels of CHF5993 pMDI (beclomethasone dipropionate/formoterol fumarate/glycopyrronium bromide (BDP/FF/GB)) and of one dose of CHF5259 (GB) in healthy subjects compared to moxifloxacin and placebo.
To determine the feasibility of Tele-rehabilitation vs traditional center-based pulmonary rehabilitation for people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
The aim of the study will be to assess in patients with mild-to-moderate COPD the role of inflammation in the patient's therapeutic management and follow-up.
Our study aiming for determining the combined effect of selective manual therapy techniques in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients
