View clinical trials related to Cognitive Impairment.
Filter by:The purpose of this study is to investigate feasibility aspects of an intervention targeting problems in managing daily tasks due to mild-to-moderate poststroke cognitive impairments. We will specifically address uncertainties related to intervention content and delivery, and trial design and conduct.
The constellation of long-term psychological, physical, and cognitive impairments arising after a critical illness among family members of ICU survivors has been labeled as "Post Intensive Care Syndrome - Family" (PICS-F). Despite PICS-F awareness, the long-term issues faced by ICU family members remain poorly understood with several gaps in knowledge remaining such as the role of protective psychosocial factors, caregiver burden, or family satisfaction in the development of the syndrome. This single-center, longitudinal exploratory study, aims to determine the incidence of each PICS-F impairment (psychological, physical, and cognitive) and to identify factors (during ICU stay and after hospital discharge) associated with the development or prevention of the PICS-F impairments among family members of ICU survivors of a public hospital in Chile.
Purpose: 1. Measuring and optimize the usability of the BAMCOG (games to measure cognitive functioning) 2. Concurrent validation of BAMCOG with MoCA to see if BAMCOG can serve as a monitoring instrument/screener 3. Determination of carotid flow/cerebral blood flow pre- and post implant of prosthesis of aortic valve by ultrasound doppler measurements
The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the impact of a brief cognitive screener on provider behavior in patients completing an annual wellness visit (AWV). The main question[s] it aims to answer are: - do appropriate referrals increase for patients using the new screener? - do appropriate diagnostic orders increase for patients using the new screener? Participants will respond to 4 questions about their cognitive abilities as part of a larger AWV protocol. Researchers will compare provider behavior for patients completing AWVs before and after implementation of the new screener to see if referral, diagnostic and prescribing behaviors differ.
Females with sub-clinical hypothyroidism may exhibit frequent cognitive problems especially if they are elderly
Identify potential markers of recovery through event-related potentials (ERPs) in the evolution of altered consciousness with potential ability to discriminate between different conditions of altered state of consciousness. Identify potential markers with prognostic value, in order to identify personalized and specific intensive rehabilitation paths based on the outcome indexes obtained.
Preoperative cognitive impairment (PCI) may increase the incidence of postoperative delirium (POD), yet screening for cognitive impairment is rarely performed. This study hypothesized that Mini-Cog for preoperative cognitive impairment screening predicts postoperative delirium. Elderly patients (65 years or older) attending Henan Provincial People's Hospital during the trial period who required elective thoracic surgery were recruited into the study.
This project is aimed at advancing neuropsychological diagnostics, enriching and modernizing the panorama of both clinical and forensic psychometric testing. The rapid socio-demographic changes, the developments of neuropsychological semiotics and nosography, as well as the growing applicative specialization of neuropsychological assessment make it necessary to introduce further tools to satisfy the diagnostic requests in clinical contexts and more recently in the forensic field (i.e., tests to be administered remotely; bedside screeners; domain-specific in-depth tests; tools for assessing testamentary capacity). Specifically, the present study aims to: a) develop, calibrate and evaluate the psychometric properties of I and II level clinical and/or forensic neuropsychological tests evaluating instrumental and non-instrumental functions in a sample of neurologically healthy individuals representative of the Italian population ; b) evaluate the cross-sectional and longitudinal clinical usability of the aforementioned tests in clinical samples (patients with neurological and neuropsychiatric pathologies of different etiology).
Among patients with cognitive impairment (CI) that undergo surgery, the risk for developing postoperative delirium (POD) is high (50%) and associated with further morbidity and mortality. Yet, 30-40% of POD cases are preventable with perioperative management. This randomized pragmatic clinical trial aims to assess incidence of POD in adult surgical patients with CI, as well as provider adherence to a set of 12 perioperative best practice recommendations for perioperative management. Electronic health record (EHR) data will be used to identify patients as high risk for developing POD and clinical decision support (CDS) prompts within the EHR will display best practices. Cases will be randomized to either the control group, usual care or the intervention which includes the high-risk alert and best practice prompts.
Mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) often causes persistent motor and cognitive deficits in children resulting in functional limitations. We are testing a brain stimulation method along with evaluating objective tools to help record and restore communication among affected brain areas, which will facilitate recovery in youth after mTBI.
