NCT ID: NCT00231803 Completed - Clinical trials for Chronic Kidney Disease

The Canadian Prevention of Renal and Cardiovascular Endpoints Trial

CanPrevent
Start date: April 2005
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Advanced kidney disease with it's associated heart and blood vessel problems are becoming more frequent. These problems markedly affect length and quality of life and cost a lot to treat. Treatments are known that can prevent development of advanced kidney and heart disease. These treatments are not being optimally applied in the current health system. This study aims to identify people with relatively early stage chronic kidney disease. With the participation of these people, the study will test whether a nurse coordinated clinic involving a medical kidney specialist, applying the known treatments, can reduce or delay the onset of advanced kidney disease and heart and blood vessel problems such as heart attack, stroke and death, to a greater extent than usual care. The study will also address issues of costs associated with care and illness. The nature of the care provided by the health care professionals will be studied to see how best to achieve good health outcomes.

NCT ID: NCT00228449 Completed - Anemia Clinical Trials

Peginesatide for Anemia in Chronic Hemodialysis Patients

Start date: July 2005
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety, pharmacodynamics (PD), and pharmacokinetics (PK) of multiple intravenous doses of peginesatide in participants with chronic kidney disease (CKD) who are on hemodialysis.

NCT ID: NCT00228436 Completed - Anemia Clinical Trials

Safety, PD & PK of Multiple Doses of Peginesatide for Anemia in Chronic Kidney Disease Patients

Start date: September 2005
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety, pharmacodynamics (PD), and pharmacokinetics (PK) of multiple subcutaneous injections of peginesatide in participants with chronic kidney disease (CKD) not on dialysis who had not received erythropoiesis stimulating agent (ESA) treatment.

NCT ID: NCT00212875 Completed - Anemia Clinical Trials

A Study of Four Dosing Regimens of PROCRIT (Epoetin Alfa) in Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease. Protocol Addendum: Extension Study of Maintenance Therapy of PROCRIT (Epoetin Alfa) in Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease.

Start date: September 2005
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective of this study is to compare the change in hemoglobin (Hb) from study start to the end of the study between the every 2 week and the every 4 week dosing regimens in patients with anemia of chronic kidney disease (CKD) initiated on PROCRIT (epoetin alfa). Protocol Addendum: The primary objective of the open-label extension portion of this study is to evaluate if epoetin alfa 40,000 Units given under the skin every six weeks, can maintain hemoglobin within the range of 11-12 g/dL in patients with anemia of CKD.

NCT ID: NCT00196755 Completed - Clinical trials for Chronic Kidney Disease

Study of Safety and Efficacy of Renagel® Compared With Calcium Acetate in Patients With Peritoneal Dialysis

Start date: December 2004
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that sevelamer hydrochloride is non-inferior to calcium acetate for the treatment of hyperphosphataemia in patients receiving peritoneal dialysis.

NCT ID: NCT00190580 Completed - Hypertension Clinical Trials

Kanagawa Valsartan Trial (KVT): Effects of Valsartan on Renal and Cardiovascular Disease

Start date: February 2003
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to prove the hypothesis that the progression of renal and cardiovascular disease is more efficiently prevented when the angiotensin II receptor blocker valsartan is added to conventional antihypertensive therapy.

NCT ID: NCT00184769 Completed - Clinical trials for Chronic Kidney Disease

Growth Hormone Treatment in Infants Aged 1 to 2 Years With Chronic Renal Insufficiency (CRI) and Growth Retardation.

Start date: January 29, 1998
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

This trial is conducted in Europe. Objective(s): To evaluate the effect of human growth hormone on infants aged 1 to 2 years with chronic renal insufficiency (CRI) and growth retardation despite an adequate dietary intake. Trial Design: This is an open, parallel group clinical trial with a duration of one year, in which period 50% of patients will receive GH treatment and the other 50% will act as a control group, without treatment. Trial Population: The trial will involve a total of 16 infants aged from 12±3 to 24 months suffering chronic renal insufficiency (Glomerular Filtration Rate less than 60 ml/min/1.73 m2), and growth failure and undergoing conservative treatment or peritoneal dialysis. Include the key inclusion and exclusion criteria.
