NCT ID: NCT05203614 Recruiting - Cancer Clinical Trials

Positive Activities for Asian American Cancer Patients and Caregivers

Start date: November 30, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Positive Activities for Asian American Cancer Patients and Caregivers

NCT ID: NCT05203250 Recruiting - Cancer Clinical Trials

Longitudinal Registry Including Patients Treated With Heavy Particles

Start date: June 4, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

The purpose of this registry is to collect retrospective and prospective standardized data of patients treated with particle therapy, either with protons or carbon ions, at the National Center for Oncological Hadrontherapy (CNAO) based in Pavia. By keeping track of the patients treated, it will allow the investigators to periodically analyze and evaluate data collected of daily clinical activity. This will help gathering more information on the results of particle therapy and will provide the basis for in depth evaluation of patients' outcome with respect to the delivered treatment.

NCT ID: NCT05201014 Recruiting - Cancer Clinical Trials

Cancer Survivor Cardiomyopathy Detection

CASCADE
Start date: March 3, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this study is to improve the cardiovascular care of adult cancer survivors. The goal is to obtain the data necessary to plan and develop a nation-wide network of a screening program that can help provide cost-effective and long-term monitoring.

NCT ID: NCT05192837 Recruiting - Cancer Clinical Trials

Preoperative Smoking Cessation in Patients Undergoing Surgery

PORTICO
Start date: April 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Background: At present, effectively implementing smoking cessation programs in the health care system constitutes a major challenge. A unique opportunity to initiate smoking cessation focuses on smokers scheduled for surgery. These patients are not only highly motivated to quit smoking but also likely to benefit from a reduction in postoperative complications which may translate into a decrease of costs. Nevertheless, surgical patients are not routinely informed about the benefits of preoperative smoking cessation. Potential reasons for this missed opportunity may be lack of time and training of surgeons and anesthesiologists. The investigators therefore aim to analyse the impact of a preoperative high-intensity smoking cessation intervention on surgical complications up to a 90-day postoperative period in patients of various surgical disciplines. The hypothesis is that preoperative smoking cessation program improves outcomes in smokers undergoing intermediate to high-risk surgery. The primary objective is to compare complications between patients with an institutional multifaceted smoking cessation intervention starting four weeks before surgery compared to patients in the advice only group (control group) within a 90-day postoperative period. The primary endpoint is the Comprehensive Complication Index (CCI®) within 90 days of surgery. Secondary outcomes include length of hospital stay, cost of hospital stay, smoking abstinence, reduction in nicotine consumption. Methods: The present study is a single center, randomized trial with two parallel groups of smokers scheduled for surgery comparing surgery alone and surgery with preoperative smoking cessation. The investigators plan to randomize 251 patients. The primary endpoint is the Comprehensive Complication Index up to a 90-day postoperative period. The secondary endpoints include comparison of smoking abstinence, quality of life, mental health, length of stay, costs of care and difference in hospital reimbursement between the two groups. Discussion: The hypothesis is that preoperative smoking cessation program improves outcomes in smokers undergoing surgery.

NCT ID: NCT05186948 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Cancer-related Cognitive Impairment

Development and Validation of a Novel Functional Eye-Tracking Software Application for Cancer-related Cognitive Impairment (CRCI)

Start date: March 30, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study aims to develop and validate a sensitive and non-invasive eye-tracking software application.

NCT ID: NCT05181826 Recruiting - Cancer Clinical Trials

Collection of Blood From Healthy Patients, Patients With Benign Disease and Patients With Cancer

ELITE
Start date: May 21, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

To acquire blood samples from subjects for various purposes, including: i) determining the sensitivity and specificity of select DNA methylation markers for the detection of various types of cancer, ii) identifying benign conditions that may induce false positive or false negative results, and iii) defining the effects of potential interfering substances, such as chemotherapy drugs.

NCT ID: NCT05170347 Recruiting - Cancer Clinical Trials

oGVHD After Bone Marrow Transplantation: a Territory-wide Cohort

Start date: April 30, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

Allogeneic Haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is an effective treatment for all array of blood or blood-producing organ disorders. Graft-versus-host-disease (GVHD) occurs as a result of an overactive immunological system against normal host tissues. It can happen in the liver, skin, mucosal surface of the eye, gastrointestinal tract, and genitalia. Ocular GVHD occurs in 30-70% of patients after HSCT. It mainly affects the ocular surface, including the conjunctiva and cornea. In severe cases, multiple clinical manifestations can lead to painful non-healing corneal ulcers, secondary infections, and visual loss. oGVHD can be debilitating and severely impact patients' quality of life. However, there are no widely accepted guidelines available for prevention and management. In collaboration with the Department of Haematology of Queen Mary Hospital, the investigators set out to establish a territory-wide cohort of patients receiving HSCT. Primarily, the investigators aim to establish the population-based epidemiology of oGVHD and understand the natural history and the long-term ophthalmic outcomes of oGVHD via this study.

NCT ID: NCT05166694 Recruiting - Cancer Clinical Trials

Evaluating Personalized Therapeutics Clinic (PTC) on Drug-Drug Interactions and Drug-Gene Interactions

Start date: November 30, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine whether a consultation with a Personalized Therapeutics Clinic, or PTC, will help participants lower the risk for side effects (drug-drug interactions and drug-gene interactions) when taking many medications and help providers improve prescribing decisions for participants. A PTC is a clinical that will test your genes to gather information about your health that may help guide prescribing advice and offer you new information about your prescriptions. Doctors leading this study will look for variations (differences) in your genes that may suggest that you are at greater risk of having side effects or a greater chance of benefiting from certain medications. Individuals in this study will participate for roughly 9 months.

NCT ID: NCT05164016 Recruiting - Cancer Clinical Trials

Evaluating Immune Response to COVID-19 Vaccines in Patients With Cancer, Transplant or Cellular Therapy Recipients

Start date: June 29, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study is being done because the investigators would like to learn more about how well the COVID-19 vaccine works in participants with cancer or those who have received a transplant or cellular therapy. Primary Objective Assess the immunogenicity to COVID-19 vaccination in patients with cancer and/or transplant and cellular therapy (TCT) recipients. Secondary Objectives - Evaluate the antibodies response to COVID-19 vaccination in immunocompromised patients. - Evaluate the T cell response to COVID-19 vaccination in immunocompromised patients. Exploratory Objectives - Assess incidence and severity of COVID-19 infections by 6 months following immunization with a SARS CoV-2 vaccine. - Assess the durability immune response to COVID-19 vaccination. - Assess the immunogenicity of COVID-19 vaccination in immunocompetent children and adolescents without cancer and have not undergone transplant or received cellular therapy.
