Pimavanserin for Rigid-compulsive Symptoms in Autism Spectrum Disorder

This Phase 2 study examines the safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy of pimavanserin in individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Male or female participants aged 16 to 40 years of age will be randomized to receive single doses of either placebo or pimavanserin in this randomized, placebo-controlled, cross-over designed study, followed by open label extension.

The Effect of Parent Mediated Intervention Program on Children With ASD Exposed to Earthquake in Turkey in February 2023

After devastating natural events such as earthquakes, individuals with special needs experience much more difficulties. There is a limited number of studies investigating the impact of disasters on individuals with autism. Studies show that resilience and recovery of pre-disaster functioning in young people with autism largely depends on their immediate inclusion in routine, intensive rehabilitation programs and the stabilization of daily life routines as much as possible. Children with autism had to interrupt their education due to many reasons such as the destruction of special education centers due to the earthquake and the temporary or permanent relocation of families to different cities. The fact that individuals with autism stayed away from education after the earthquake caused parents' stress and anxiety levels to increase. Parent involvement, a standard intervention practice in ASD, shows that teaching intervention strategies to parents can improve children's outcomes and increase parental effectiveness. Researchers aim in this study is to investigate the effect of the online group-based parent-mediated intervention program on autism symptoms, the effect on behavioral problems and the effect on parental mental health of children with autism spectrum disorder whose education life was interrupted 8 months after the earthquake, who had major changes in their lives (such as loss of relatives, loss of health, work, home, anxiety, having to change cities ...). Online group-based intervention program ist designed to improve the interaction, play, speech and learning skills of children with autism symptoms, taking into account the earthquake conditions.

Intelligent Robotic Interactions for Children With Autism Spectrum Disorders

For several years, studies have been developed on the contribution of social robots as a tool for interventions for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). One of the recommended intervention models is the ESDM (Early Start Denver Model). It consists of setting up an individualized, intensive program (at least 20 hours per week) through the pleasure of play. The teacher follows the motivation and interests of the child, and it is the child who chooses the activities. Studies published in recent years tend to show that robots bring benefits to ASD children, particularly in the treatment of social interactions and in clinical settings. However, there is no scientific consensus on the generalized contribution and effect over time of these interventions. Moreover, a robotic solution controlled by a practitioner through a telepresence system allows for a better adaptability to the responses and desires of the children during the interventions. The investigators believe that such a solution would allow for better assessment of progress in the core skills of expressive communication and imitation and greater engagement during interventions.

Comparsion of SPARK and Fundamental Motor Training

It was a Randomized Clinical Trial.Data will be collected from Life care rehabilitation and special child facility.The study was completed within 6 months after approval of synopsis.The calculated sample size, through WHO sample size calculator, using Bruininks- Oseretsky test's mean and standard deviation (Mean Dynamic Balance) as outcome measure was 20 in each group. After adding 10% dropout the sample size will be 20+4=24 in each group; hence, overall sample size n= 20. Age range 5-12 years. Children with diagnosed Autism and age ranges between 5-12 will be included in the study.Convenient Sampling Technique was used to collect the data.There was two groups.In Group A SPARK therapy will be provided and in group 2 fundamental motor skill training will be provided. To assess the social skills Gilliam Autism Rating Scale-Second Edition (GARS-2) and for motor skills Bruininkse Oseretsky test of motor proficiency (BOTMP) was used.

In the treatment of autism spectrum disorders (ASD), medication is only an adjunct, and the main treatment modalities are education and behavioral therapy. People with autism incur huge medical and educational costs, which puts a great financial burden on families.Taurine is one of the abundant amino acids in tissues and organs, and plays a variety of physiological and pharmacological functions in nervous, cardiovascular, renal, endocrine and immune systems. A large number of studies have shown that taurine can improve cognitive function impairment under various physiological or pathological conditions through a variety of mechanisms, taurine can increase the abundance of beneficial bacteria in the intestine, inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria, and have a positive effect on intestinal homeostasis. This study intends to analyze the effect of taurine supplementation on ASD, and explore the possible mechanism by detecting intestinal symptoms, intestinal flora, markers of oxidative stress and clinical symptoms of ASD.

Group Intervention on Executive Function in Children With Autism Spectrum Disorder

Autism is a developmental disorder characterized by difficulties in social communication, repetitive behaviors, and social interaction. A key aspect of autism concerns executive functions, which are a set of cognitive processes that regulate attention, planning, inhibition, and impulse control. These functions are often impaired in children with autism, affecting their learning and daily functioning. The present protocol aims to test the first absolute and then comparative effectiveness of two executive function development programs: the "APISMELA" training and the "UNSTUCK & ON TARGET! SECOND EDITION". Two groups will be held at the same time and will conduct the two programs in reverse order. In fact, the protocol is divided into two phases. Participants subjected to the APISMELA group, finished the intervention sessions will conduct an interim evaluation and then begin the intervention phases of the UNSTUCK & ON TARGET! SECOND EDITION protocol. Participants subjected to the UNSTUCK & ON TARGET! SECOND EDITION group, finished the intervention sessions will conduct an interim evaluation and then begin the intervention phases of the APISMELA protocol. Group intervention programs were chosen for two reasons: group intervention compared with individual intervention have lower costs for patients and their families and thus higher overall social acceptability. The second is that group intervention within the social-constructivist paradigm, to which the two chosen programs belong, becomes a fundamental resource for stimulating that augmentative learning that is a source of development on the cognitive and conceptual levels for human beings.
