NCT ID: NCT02959099 Completed - Atherosclerosis Clinical Trials

Incident COronary EveNts Identified by Computed Tomography

ICONIC
Start date: July 20, 2012
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The Incident COronary EveNts Identified by Coronary Tomography (ICONIC) trial is a nested, case-control study derived from the dynamic CONFIRM registry, and is based on propensity scoring methods to match subjects with (cases) or without (controls) acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Our primary objective is to determine CCTA-based atherosclerotic plaque characteristics that would help elucidate precursors of incident ACS, with the secondary objective being an analysis of gender-specific disparities.

NCT ID: NCT02955238 Completed - Clinical trials for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Latinos Understanding the Need for Adherence

LUNA
Start date: August 2009
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The Latino population in the United States is increasing in size; is diverse in culture, backgrounds and countries of origin; is experiencing unique influences from social and behavioral acculturation to the U.S.; is reported nationally to have lower rates of heart disease; is reported to have increased prevalence of diabetes and asthma; and is generally poorer and less educated (NHLBI working Group, 2003). They represent an important target population for disparities research. In particular Latinos accessing care in Community Health Centers in the United States represent an ideal population for conducting disparities research because lack of access to care is minimized through various governmental health insurance support mechanisms. This study will build on existing relationships to conduct the proposed study, using expertise in epidemiologic, behavioral and genetic research in an effort to promote a coordinated, comprehensive, interdisciplinary and focused research effort to improve the care being delivered to indigent Latinos at-risk for and with CVD.

NCT ID: NCT02953613 Terminated - Clinical trials for Coronary Artery Disease

LipiScan- Ultrasound INterrogation of Atherosclerotic Coronary Arteries:

LUNAR-CCTA
Start date: April 28, 2016
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The goal of this study is to correlate both plaque and % lipid core content assessed by NIRS-IVUS (Imaging technique) to plaque burden and % lipid core content in coronary computerized tomographic angiography (CCTA) completed at 1 week in non-culprit coronary arteries.

NCT ID: NCT02951949 Completed - Atherosclerosis Clinical Trials

Estrogen Exposure and Atherosclerosis in Postmenopausal Women

Start date: November 2014
Phase:
Study type: Observational

One hundred Spanish postmenopausal women accepted to be investigated for cardiovascular risk actors including clinical features, serum biochemical parameters, single nucleotide polymorphisms for estrogen receptor, and imaging parameters, carotid intima-media thickness (91 women) and coronary computed tomography (32 women). Multivariable analysis confirmed that both age and glucose level directly affected IMT. Estrogenic exposure, as measured by the allele associated with lower expression of the ER beta gene, was protective at the sinus and the wall. Findings at the coronary arteries, either moderate or high calcium index (CAC) and/or significant lumen stenosis were sporadic and did not allow for establishing association with any of the variables assessed.

NCT ID: NCT02942342 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Coronary Artery Disease

Evaluation of Asymptomatic Coronary Atherosclerotic Disease Among People of Kalamazoo, MI

ESCAPE MI
Start date: March 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The primary goal of this study is to determine the prevalence of undiagnosed asymptomatic coronary artery disease (CAD) in Kalamazoo and its neighboring areas using Coronary Computed Tomography (CCTA) and Coronary Artery Calcium Score (CACS) to assess if asymptomatic CAD is widespread enough to warrant implementation of CCTA as a routine screening tool. Additionally, this study will use the CCTA results to evaluate several methods of assessing CAD risk in the asymptomatic population including Framingham Risk Score (FRS) and Reynold's Risk Score, Biomarkers (High sensitivity C-Reactive Protein, Fibrinogen, Vertical Auto Profile, oxidized Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL), Apolipoprotein A1 (ApoA1), Apolipoprotein B1 (ApoB1), Vitamin D, Homocysteine) as well as a large panel of genetic markers of atherosclerosis and dyslipidemia.

NCT ID: NCT02932176 Suspended - Atherosclerosis Clinical Trials

Machine Learning for Handheld Vascular Studies

DopplerZAM
Start date: September 7, 2016
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The use of handheld arterial 'stethoscopes' (continuous wave Doppler devices) are ubiquitous in clinical practice. However, most users have received no formal training in their use or the interpretation of the returned data. This leads to delays in diagnosis and errors in diagnosis. The investigators intend to create a novel machine-learning algorithm to assist clinicians in the use of this data. This study will allow the investigators to collect sound files from the use of the devices and compare the algorithms output to established, existing vascular testing. There will be no invasive procedures, and use of these stethoscopes is part of routine clinical care. If successful, this data and algorithm will be later deployed via smartphone app for point of case testing in a separate study

NCT ID: NCT02931188 Completed - Vascular Disease Clinical Trials

The Effect of Anacetrapib on Vascular Function and Arterial Stiffness

REVEAL-Vasc
Start date: January 2017
Phase:
Study type: Observational

There are currently no studies evaluating the effect of anacetrapib on blood vessel function and stiffness of the arteries. The REVEAL-Vasc trial will assess whether anacetrapib, in addition to atorvastatin (LDL-C lowering drug) treatment, results in greater endothelial-dependent vascular function and aortic stiffness in patients with established cardiovascular disease, compared to adding placebo. Participants will be asked to provide a blood sample and pulse Wave Velocity/Pulse Wave Analysis and Flow Mediated Dilation will be carried out to assess blood vessel function and stiffness of the arteries. REVEAL-Vasc is an investigator led sub-study of HPS3/TIMI 55: REVEAL (Randomized Evaluation of the Effects of Anacetrapib through Lipid modification): A large-scale, randomized placebo-controlled trial of the clinical effects of anacetrapib among people with established vascular disease (NCT01252953) which is coordinated by OXFORD CTSU. No treatment will be received on this sub-study, therefore only participants who have been enrolled in HPS3/TIMI55 REVEAL in which participants received anacetrapib with atorvastatin or placebo will be considered for this trial.

NCT ID: NCT02930330 Completed - Clinical trials for Coronary Artery Disease

Interval Training in Cardiac Rehabilitation

Start date: October 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine whether high intensity interval training (INT) is more effective in suppressing platelet reactivity than continuous, moderate intensity training (CONT) in patients undergoing cardiac rehabilitation after percutaneous coronary intervention.

NCT ID: NCT02929355 Completed - Clinical trials for Carotid Atherosclerosis

Carotid Atherosclerosis and Vascular Events in People With Diabetes

PROCAVE-D
Start date: January 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Diabetes is a risk factor for carotid atherosclerotic whose progression is associated with an increased risk of vascular events. Investigators assessed prospectively by arterial duplex ultrasonography the progression of carotid atherosclerosis in a cohort of people with diabetes to assess the importance of progression and to analyze the impact of this progression on vascular events. The main hypothesis is that people with carotid atherosclerosis progression are at higher risk of vascular events than those without any progression.
