Filter by:The purpose of this study is to determine whether the ability of clinicians to receive and review information from patients implanted with a heart device over the internet (remote care) is comparable to patients who are seen in-office for routine visits to check the status of their device.
The primary goal of this protocol is to collect ECG signals from paediatric patients using 4 surface electrodes placed in the configurations proposed for the Cameron Health, Inc. subcutaneous implantable defibrillator (S-ICD) system. These signals will then be used to test the S-ICD system for future use in paediatric patients.
To construct a computerized database of national profiles and epidemiological data on patients wearing Medtronic implantable pacemakers and cardioverter defibrillators (both with or without cardiac resynchronization therapy), implantable loop recorders and leads used within their intended use. Clinical variables will be analyzed in relation to device-based data and diagnostics.

Quality of life (QOL) and psychological well-being of patients with implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) are significantly influenced by the experience of shock therapies. A close therapeutic relationship between patients and physicians, resulting in short reaction times to ICD-treated arrhythmic events and, in an optimised antiarrhythmic therapy, may help the patients to deal with their situations in the best possible way. The researchers investigate the influence of automatic remote patient monitoring on QOL, anxiety, and depression in ICD patients, and kind and frequency of (un-)scheduled patient-physician contacts. They also evaluate monitoring-induced changes in patient mobility and in patients' perceptions of ICD therapy.
The objective of this study is to determine if concentrations of amiodarone in fat tissue increases constantly over time during chronic treatment with this drug, and if blood concentrations reflect accurately the concentrations in fat tissue or not. This is because excessive concentrations of this drug in tissues can produce adverse effects.
The purpose of the study is to compare remote pacemaker follow-up to current standard of care follow-up. The study will compare the rate of first diagnosis of clinically actionable events between patients who utilize the Medtronic Carelink® Network (Remote arm) versus patients who are followed via routine office visits augmented by transtelephonic monitoring (TTM)(Control arm).

The study is being performed to better understand dialysis techniques which keep heart functions stable during dialysis. People on dialysis have a high risk for heart disease and strokes. More information about dialysis techniques that keep hearts stable may help prevent the high risk of cardiovascular disease and death and help to reduce discomfort during dialysis. This study will look at the way that the magnesium in dialysate affects heart function during dialysis. High or low levels of magnesium may change the way hearts beat. The question asked is if lowering the amount of magnesium in dialysate will affect the amount of magnesium in blood or change the heart beat.
