NCT ID: NCT03695965 Not yet recruiting - Ankle Injuries Clinical Trials

Magnetic Resonance Imaging Evaluation of Lateral Ankle Instability

Start date: December 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Lateral ankle instability may be acute or chronic. Acute instability usually occurs due to extreme rear foot supination with planter-flexion trauma leads to injury of lateral collateral ligament complex especially the anterior talofibular ligament. Most ankle ligamentous injuries are treated conservatively. However, 20% to 40% of patients complain of chronic instability and persistent discomfort. Structural instability, loss of proprioceptive capabilities, and the weakness of peroneal muscles seem to induce chronic instability

NCT ID: NCT02705690 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Arthroplasty, Replacement, Knee

Benchmarking the iOS Balance Application Against the Berg Balance Test

BBAaBBT
Start date: May 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study aims to benchmark the performance of an iOS application against the Berg Balance Scale (BBS), which is the most commonly used assessment tool by clinicians for measuring balance across the continuum from acute care to community-based care. An iPhone will be tied around the waist of the participant and concurrent measurements will be taken for five of the fourteen stances which comprise the BBS.

NCT ID: NCT01446341 Not yet recruiting - Ankle Sprain Clinical Trials

Cast Immobilization Versus Functional Therapy for Acute, Severe Lateral Ankle Sprains

Start date: November 2011
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Acute, severe lateral ankle sprains are estimated to comprise between 3-5% of emergency department visits and are the most common musculoskeletal injury in the physically active population. Although the current accepted treatment of ankle sprains is to encourage early mobilization with functional rehabilitation, there is little high-quality evidence directing this clinical practice. This pilot study is to: - provide quantitative data for estimation of mean outcome scores and standard deviations to allow subsequent sample size calculations - evaluate the feasibility of the proposed study design - assess patient enrollment issues specific to randomization into an active rehabilitation program compared to below knee immobilization.

NCT ID: NCT01205841 Not yet recruiting - Ankle Injuries Clinical Trials

A Prospective Study Comparing Different Clinical Decision Rules in Adult and Pediatric Ankle Trauma

LEFO
Start date: September 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Comparison of the reliability of different examination techniques to detect fractures in patients with ankle trauma.

NCT ID: NCT00268658 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Femoral Neck Fractures

Clinical Use of Andante SmartStep System in Gait Rehabilitation

Start date: n/a
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the biofeedback gait training device in improving load bearing over an operated limb, during post-operative gait training therapy. The effectiveness of the device will also be tested in self-training at home.
