Filter by:The study was to propose a classification system of posterior malleolar fractures by fracture lines with the use of CT scans, including 3D CT reconstruction, which can better understand morphological characteristics, analyze the mechanism and guide the surgeon to choose optimal approach and fixation.
This will be a multi-centre randomized controlled trial, with London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) as the lead site. Elderly patients with complex ankle fractures who meet the inclusion criteria and provide consent will be randomized (through a web-based randomization system) to one of the two treatment arms. One group (Group A) will receive primary ankle fusion, and the second group (Group B) will receive primary ankle open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF). Patient important outcomes will be compared at one year post injury
This study aims prospective randomized comparison of mid-term clinical outcomes of middle-sized posterior malleolus fractures with and without internal fixation.
Over the course of a year from the start of the research study, twenty subjects will be randomized evenly into one of two groups after an informed consent is obtained: a traditional tight rope fixation group or a tight rope fixation with an anterior inferior tibiofibular ligament (AITFL) repair augmentation with an internal brace group. Subjects in both groups will acquire a bilateral WBCT pre-operatively and 6 weeks post-operatively at Atlantic Orthopaedic Specialists office. A within group statistical analyses will compare the volume of the syndesmosis acquired by the WBCT at 6 weeks.

This is a Randomized controlled trial evaluating the effects of the use of Sterile HemaClear Tourniquet Below Calf Versus Pneumatic Tourniquet at the Thigh for Ankle and Foot Surgery The trial will randomize 60 patients into an experimental group with HemaClear or Active comparator group with Pneumatic Tourniquet. The outcomes are: effectiveness of the tourniquet, bleeding escapes, infection, deep vein thrombosis, pain at the tourniquet site, neurologic problems related to the tourniquet
