Cardiovascular Events for a Long Time End of COVID 19 Infection

In the follow-up of partecipants with Covid-19 infection, persistence of cardiovascular symptoms is common. Studies on the acute phase of Covid-19 infection have demonstrated a significant prevalence of acute myocardial damage (15-44%), and imaging studies have confirmed the presence of structural changes in the pericardium and myocardium several months after the acute phase. The aim of the project is to identify the prevalence and characteristics of long-term cardiovascular changes in Covid-19 infection.

Intracoronary Cryotherapy Effect on Stabilization of Vulnerable Plaque in Patients With NSTEMI or Unstable Angina

The POLARSTAR study is an early safety and feasibility study to evaluate the performance and safety of the CryoTherapy System (CTS) for the treatment of coronary plaque lesions that are not obstructing blood flow but are at high-risk of rupture which would cause a major heart attack. The CTS is used to apply local freezing of the lesion using a balloon catheter, controlled by a console that regulates in- and outflow of a cooling agent into the catheter. The treatment is expected to stabilize the lesion, diminishing the risk of rupture. The study will enrol subjects with acute coronary disease who have suitable coronary lesions. Subjects will be followed for 1 year after the CTS treatment. Baseline identification of lesions will be done using Coronary CT-angiography (CCTA), which will be repeated at 3 and 9 months after procedure.

HEAlth Dialogues for Patients With Mental Illness in Primary Care

In the current project, primary health care patients with mental illness such as anxiety, depression, fatigue or sleep disorders will be followed. The study includes both health conversations with the health curve as a systematic work with lifestyle habits, and the biochemical risk marker copeptin with a focus on improved lifestyle habits and the development of cardiovascular complications. Participants will be followed up at 12 and 24 months with renewed health interview including the health curve and blood sampling. National registries will be used for a, up to 20 year long follow-up regarding cardiovascular complications and mortality.

Effect of Topical Anesthesia on Hemodynamics During the Induction Period in Patients Undergo Cardiac Surgery.

The aim of the induction is to decrease stress response of endotracheal intubation. It is also important to keep hemodynamics stable during and after the induction period. Previous studies have shown that topical anesthesia can provide excellent superior supraglottic and subglottic local anesthetic effects and can significantly reduce the dosage of intravenous anesthetics. Therefore, it is significant to explore whether the combination of topical anesthesia and intravenous anesthetics could decrease the stress response of endotracheal intubation and keep hemodynamics stable during and after the induction period.

Impact of Ranolazine on Coronary Microcirculatory Resistance

Carvedilol Versus Verapamil in Chronic Heart Failure Secondary to Non-Ischemic Cardiomyopathy

Accumulated clinical and experimental data suggest that dysfunctional coronary microcirculation plays a pivotal role in the progression of heart failure despite an optimal therapy used. Therefore, we hypothesize that improvement in microvascular function by calcium antagonist, verapamil may result in additional clinical benefit. Thus, the aim of this study is to compare the effect of treatment with verapamil or carvedilol on long-term outcomes in stable, chronic heart failure secondary to non-ischemic cardiomyopathy.
