NCT ID: NCT05493267 Recruiting - Immunotherapy Clinical Trials

A Exploratory Study of Vγ2Vδ2 T Lymphocyte-based Immunotherapy for MDR-TB

Start date: August 3, 2022
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

A Exploratory Study of drug combination (zoledronic acid/interleukin 2) that specifically amplifies Vγ2Vδ2 T cells in combination with anti-tuberculosis chemotherapy for the treatment of MDR-TB.

NCT ID: NCT05278988 Recruiting - MDR-TB Clinical Trials

A Study of Ultrashort PRS Regimen V in the Treatment of MDR-TB

Start date: April 1, 2021
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

This is an exploratory, prospective, randomized, active control, and open label clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of 6-9 months treatment with the ultrashort PRS Regimen V.

NCT ID: NCT05175794 Recruiting - Tuberculosis Clinical Trials

Triage Test for All Oral DR-TB Regimen (TRiAD Study)

Start date: May 26, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

A Phase 4 operational study to assess the effectiveness, feasibility, acceptability, and cost effectiveness of the GeneXpert MTB/XDR (Xpert XDR; Cepheid) assay for rapid triage-and-treatment of DR-TB-A multi-centre, multi-country prospective cohort study

NCT ID: NCT04124055 Completed - MDR-TB Clinical Trials

Saliva and Dried Blood Spot Therapeutic Drug Monitoring for MDR-TB in Tanzania

Start date: September 24, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Dried blood spot and saliva samples are collected during multidrug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) treatment to measure the drug concentration of levofloxacin. Feasibility of both analytical procedures in a high burdened setting is explored.

NCT ID: NCT03069534 Recruiting - MDR TB Clinical Trials

Study of Adjunctive Recombinant Human Interleukin-2 Therapy in Patients With MDR-TB

rhIL-2
Start date: June 1, 2009
Phase: Phase 2/Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) has emerged as a challenge worldwide. Few studies have prospectively reported outcomes in patients with pulmonary MDR-TB treated with adjunctive immunotherapy combined to standard chemotherapy. We aimed to assess whether immunotherapy with Interleukin(IL)-2 enhanced the clinical and immune effects of treatment on MDR-TB patients. We performed a multicentre prospective cohort study extend all over Jiangsu province in China. Two groups were generated based on the adjunctive rhIL-2 therapy during 24 months regiman. Bacteriological and imaging data were followed during 24 months with cure rates analysed.

NCT ID: NCT02758236 Completed - MDR TB Clinical Trials

Tuberculosis Research of INA-RESPOND On Drug Resistance

TRIPOD
Start date: February 13, 2017
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study is a prospective observational cohort study of TB patients who are treated or evaluated at 10 study sites. Patients presenting with cough for 2 weeks or longer with at least one additional TB symptom and a chest X-ray suggestive of TB, will be invited to be enrolled in the study. The signed informed consent will designate their willingness to participate on this study.

NCT ID: NCT02409290 Completed - MDR-TB Clinical Trials

The Evaluation of a Standard Treatment Regimen of Anti-tuberculosis Drugs for Patients With MDR-TB

STREAM
Start date: March 2016
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Tuberculosis (TB) is a common, infectious, bacterial disease that is spread when an infected person transmits their saliva through the air by coughing or sneezing. Despite the availability and effectiveness of affordable six-month treatments for tuberculosis (TB), the worldwide control of this disease is currently being impacted by the emergence of multidrug resistant TB (MDR-TB). MDR-TB refers to TB that is resistant to at least isoniazid and rifampicin. These are the two most powerful first-line drugs used to treat pulmonary TB. MDR-TB usually develops while a person is taking TB treatment due to either inappropriate treatment or failure of patients to comply with their treatment. This strain of drug-resistant bacteria can also be spread to other people through the air. With the incident rate of MDR-TB on the rise, there is a need to investigate optimal treatment regimens using effective drugs.

NCT ID: NCT02129244 Active, not recruiting - HIV Clinical Trials

A Nurse Case Management Intervention to Improve MDR-TB/HIV Co-Infection Outcomes

Start date: October 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The researchers of this study are observing the treatment of multi-drug resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MDR-TB) in South Africa. MDR-TB can not be treated with the usual TB drugs and needs to be treated with special drugs. The patients need to take these drugs for up to two years. Certain hospitals have already agreed to participate in this research project, half of the hospitals will be assigned a nurse case manager and the other half will not. The researchers are studying the benefits of having a nurse case manager to improve treatment response for patients with drug resistant TB. The researchers believe that nurse case management (NCM) in the intervention sites will increase MDR-TB cure and completion rates (i.e. treatment success) in comparison to usual care (UC), i.e. standardized programmatic management alone, in patients with and without HIV co-infection. To do this, the researchers will review the medical information collected at the hospital as part of the patient's treatment after obtaining the patient's permission.
