Strip Graft w/ Xenogeneic Matrix vs Free Gingival Graft for the Augmentation of Peri-implant Keratinized Mucosa

The primary objective of this study is to compare changes in peri-implant keratinized mucosa (PIKM) following the application of apically repositioned flap (ARF) using a combination of a Strip graft and a Xenogeneic matrix, or with a free gingival graft (FGG), in implants in the second stage with <2 mm of PIKM. Additionally, as a secondary objective, the investigators compare postoperative blood supply in both recipient and donor sites based on the type of graft obtained. Meanwhile, the investigators evaluate differences between the two groups concerning microcirculation values (perfusion units, PU), soft tissue thickness (STT), volume change, vestibular depth, as well as clinical, aesthetic, and patient-reported outcome measures (PROMS).

Use of Cyanoacrylate in Healing and Pain in the Palatal Donor Site of Connective Tissue Grafts

Periodontal plastic surgery has been performed successfully for a long time in the treatment of gingival recessions and mucogingival defects. Epithelial and connective tissue grafts are considered the "gold standard" treatment for gingival recession due to their biocompatibility and long-term stability, however they require tissue harvesting from a donor area, usually the palate, increasing patient discomfort. Various hemostatic and healing agents have been used in conjunction with suturing to speed healing and reduce complications associated with this procedure, such as bleeding and pain. These include absorbable synthetic collagen, absorbable gelatin sponges, oxidized regenerated cellulose, ferric subsulfate, and more recently, cyanoacrylate cements and platelet-rich fibrin. Cyanoacrylate adhesives are synthesized as monomers by condensation of a cyanoacetate with formaldehyde in the presence of catalysts and the adhesive film is developed by rapid polymerization caused by hydroxide groups to the surfaces to be adhered. The properties of cyanoacrylate tissue adhesives of greatest interest in the surgical field are excellent hemostasis, rapid tissue adhesion, and possible bacteriostatic qualities.

Effect of Ozonated Oil on Healing of Palatal Area.

Despite the good clinical results and advantages of using autogenous grafts, such as subepithelial connective grafts and free gingival grafts, the removal of grafts from the palate can result in greater postoperative morbidity. The objective of the present study will be to perform a clinical evaluation of the effect of ozonated oil on the healing of palatal wounds, after the removal of free gingival grafts, to be used in the post-extraction sockets, with the purpose of preserving the alveolar ridge. This is a prospective longitudinal clinical trial, being a patient-centered, double-blind, randomized by lottery, placebo- controlled study. The groups will be divided as follows: 1) EGL Group (control): after the removal of the EGL, the palatal wound will be treated with non-ozonized sunflower oil (placebo), applied once a day, for seven days. days; 2) EGL + Oz Group (test): after removal of the EGL, the palatal wound will be treated with ozonated sunflower oil with a peroxide index between 510 - 625 meq/kg (Oleozon®, São Paulo, Brazil), applied once a day, for seven days. The clinical evaluation and the healing process will be evaluated through the remaining scar area (RSA), Epithelialization (E) and Tissue Edema (TE). Assessments will be performed at baseline (after EGL removal) and at 3, 7, and 14 days. Measurement of levels of Malondialdehyde (MDA) and 4-Hydroxinonenal (4-HNE) for oxidative stress will be performed at days 3 and 7. Quality of life questionnaire (OHIP-14) and pain scale (VAS) will be applied. The data will initially be tested for normality by the Shapiro-Wilk test. If the data are parametric, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) can be applied, but if they are non-parametric, the Kruskal-Wallis test can be applied, followed by Dunns, for comparison between groups. The significance level will be set at 5%.

Platelet Rich Fibrin in Soft Tissue Healing After Implant Uncovering

This study represents a prospective, controlled and randomized clinical trial assessing the effects of L-PRF on the healing time of the donor area and on the patient's postoperative morbidity in the 4 weeks following the Apically Positioned Flap (APF) procedure in the uncovering phase of two-stage implants. A total of 40 patients were recruited and divided into two groups. The implant uncovering procedure in the test group was performed with APF and application of L-PRF on the donor area. Patients in the control group, on the other hand, were treated with APF alone, leaving the donor area to heal by secondary intention.

Surgical Management of Medication Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaws With Concentrated Growth Factor

The purpose of this present study was to evaluate the efficiency of the growth factors delivered by concentrated growth factor (CGF) on the healing process of osteoporotic patients with medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaws (MRONJ). This randomized controlled study composed of osteoporotic female patients who were treated with oral bisphosphonates (BPs) and diagnosed with MRONJ. For the CGF group, each patient was treated with local application of CGF at the surgical site after removing the necrotic bone while the surgical area was only primarily closed as traditional surgical therapy for the control group. The patients underwent clinical examinations for 6 months postoperatively to check the presence of infection and dehiscence.
