Filter by:To treat lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and erectile dysfunction (ED), we mainly have symptomatic drug treatments. Some patients are resistant to the treatments that we have or are forced to stop treatments because of side effects. It would be interesting to focus on comorbidities and to evaluate whether it is possible to improve the urological symptoms by taking care the comorbidities, which would consist in an etiological treatment of the urological symptoms. The aim of the study is to evaluate the evolution of low urinary tract disorders (LUTS) and erectile dysfunction (ED) in patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) following by continuous positive airway pressure equipment (CPAP) at night. Participation in the study will be offered to all patients, men and women, consulting or hospitalized in the sleep unit of the department of pneumology CHU of Reims for a nocturnal ventilatory polygraphy or a polysomnography diagnostic of OSAS. Men will complete three questionnaires about LUTS and DE, women one questionnaire about LUTS. The questionnaires will be completed twice, the first time when consulting at the sleep unit for nocturnal ventilatory polygraphy or a polysomnography diagnostic of OSAS ; the second time during the pneumology consultation three months later. We will compare the results between the questionnaires to assess whether OSAS equipment with CPAP has improved urologic symptoms. If the management of OSAS allows an improvement of lower urinary tract disorders and / or an improvement of erectile dysfunction, these results would be interesting for the management of patients resistant to symptomatic drug treatments or to stop them because of iatrogenic side effects. Etiological rather than symptomatic management would also have long-term benefits, both in improving the overall quality of life of the patient and in the medical and economic field. It might be interesting to identify in urology consultation among patients consulting for LUTS or ED, patients at risk of presenting OSAS and referring them to a pulmonologist to manage OSAS if it exists, from the beginning of the urological care.
Erectile dysfunction (ED) is defined as the persistent inability to attain and or maintain an erection sufficient to permit satisfactory sexual performance
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of electrical stimulation of nerves responsible for erectile function to evoke penile erection after surgery to remove the prostate (prostatectomy).
The study is a prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled drug study to evaluate the pattern of erectile function recovery after robotic assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy (RALP). We hope to illustrate that early and continuous therapy with either Sildenafil citrate or pentoxyfylline after nerve sparing RALP will promote improved erectile function.
The main goal of this study is to compare the use of Avanafil versus Sildenafil in spinal cord injury erectile dysfunction. The study has the characteristics of a non- inferiority, randomized, crossover, open clinical trial. The principal variable is the IIEF-EF (Erectile Function Domain questionnaire of the International Index of Erectile Function IIEF). This is an interventional study
The aim of this study is to analyze the impact of physical exercise through a protocol of concurrent training in the psychological, physical, hormonal and sexual aspects in middle aged men with androgen deficiency in the aging male (ADAM). The study design with randomized clinical trial, comprising men in middle age (40 to 59 years) with ADAM, should be divided into two groups: 1) Control group (CG); 2) Experimental group (EG). Information related to sociodemographic and clinical profile will be collected; Psychological aspects (depressive and anxiety symptoms - Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale ; stress - Perceived Stress Scale); Physical acpects (IMC; Percentage of body fat; Abdominal obesity - waist circumference in cm; Muscle strength - Biodex System 4 PRO isokinetic dynamometer; cardiorespiratory Fitness - Cycle-ergometer - CASE ECG Stress Testing System, General Electric Medical Systems, Milwaukee, WI); Hormonal aspects (total and free testosterone - blood collection); Sexual Aspect (Sexual satisfaction- International Index of Erectile Function); DAEM (scale of symptoms of aging). Apply a physical exercise protocol using the functional training method over a six-month period. All information will be collected before and after the intervention period. For statistical analysis, use the SPSS statistical package, version 20.0. (Kolmogorov-Smirnov or Shapiro-Wilk test) for the selection of statistical tests.
The purpose of this phase I/IIa study is to assess the safety and tolerability profile of TR399 in healthy volunteers and erectile dysfunction patients. This study will be conducted via a single-arm and open-label fashion.
Observational study to evaluate the effect of Tadalafil 5mg once daily on Erectile Dysfunction and QOL in Andropause patients with Erectile Dysfunction. Patients will be observed for 8weeks.
Erection disorders constitute the first sign of vascular injury in type 2 diabetes patients. The important frequency of these disorders and their consequences in term of quality of life have a strong contrast with the actual interest showed for them by the medical community. Natural evolution of the disease and its management make that these disorders often occur little time after a therapeutic change. As a consequence, patients often accuse their medication to be responsible for the appearance of these disorders. This confusion, associated to false believes that may have the patients on their disease or their treatment, often leads to treatment discontinuation which has a deleterious effect on the disease evolution. Educational therapy programs showed a positive impact on therapeutic adherence. Increasing patients' knowledge on their disease and treatments increases their therapeutic adherence and makes it easier to balance diabetes and therefore limits complications appearance. Educational therapy programs concern today the disease, its process, its evolution, its treatments, their efficacy, their adverse effects but erection disorders are not specifically addressed. This study aims to evaluate the impact of a sexology consultation on diabetes balance measured via HbA1c rate. This consultation aims at precising this particular symptom of erection disorders, without any medicine prescription. The aim is to explain to patients the different links between their symptoms, diabetes, medicines and themselves.
The efficacy and safety of the combination of tamsulosin and tadalafil in men with lower urinary tract symptoms due to benign prostatic hyperplasia and Erectile Dysfunction: a randomized, double blinded, parallel design, active controlled, multi-center, phase 3 clinical trial
