Prevalence of Musculoskeletal Complaints in Nursing Home Residents

Start date: January 18, 2024
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

The goal of this observational study is to investigate the prevalence of joint complaints in nursing home residents with and without dementia. Primary objective: Number of tender or swollen joints. Secondary objectives: 1. Only when it is possible for the nursing home resident to provide us this information: how nursing home residents themselves assess the severity of their joint complaints that day (at that time). If the nursing home resident cannot answer this question (reliably), we use the Pain Assessment Checklist for Seniors with Severe Dementia (PACSLAC-D). 2. Investigate mobility limitations among nursing home residents. 3. To understand whether an accurate (differential) diagnosis for the joint complaints is reported in the electronic files. During the study, a standard physical examination of the musculoskeletal system will performed. Nursing home residents allocated in group 1 (no dementia) also provide an answer on 3 non-incriminating questions (severity of joint complaints, pain in general and general health). Nursing home residents allocated in group 2 (dementia) answer, if possible, 1 non-incriminating question (pain in joints at that moment). These question(s) and the physical examination are also widely used in daily clinical practice. No further incriminating questions or questionnaires will be administered. If the nursing home resident cannot answer this question (reliably), we use the PACSLAC-D.

NCT ID: NCT05357378 Recruiting - Osteoarthritis, Hip Clinical Trials

Safety and Effectiveness of the HIT Reverse HRS

Start date: July 15, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine if the use of the HIT Reverse Hip Replacement System is safe and effective in patients undergoing total hip replacement. We will determine whether it is safe and effective by comparing it to the control devices.

Post Marketing Clinical Follow up Study to Evaluate the Performance and Safety of HYALEXO

Start date: May 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This trial is a post marketing clinical follow up study, aiming to evaluate the performance and safety of Hyalexo for pain relief in patients suffering from osteoarthritis or degenerative joint diseases. The study will involve 54 subjects, who will be enrolled in 4 centers in France. The performance outcomes will be evaluated by the koos score, and VAS for pain, while the safety outcomes will be assessed by a safety checklist and by collecting all the adverse events (Adverse Event/Adverse Device Effect/Serious Adverse Event/Serious Adverse Device Effect/Unanticipated Serious Adverse Device Effect/Device Deficiencies) at all visits.

Prospective Post-market Study Examining the Effectiveness of the EcoFit®

Start date: June 21, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the EcoFit Hip with implacross E polyethylene for total hip replacement surgery.

NCT ID: NCT04399928 Completed - Clinical trials for Degenerative Joint Disease

EU Safety and Efficacy Study Regarding the R3 Acetabular Hip System

Start date: May 18, 2009
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The objective of this study is to determine the long-term safety and effectiveness from the R3 Acetabular Hip System. The study hypothesis is that implant survivorship of the R3 cup is at least 97% at 3 years, 95% at 5 years, 93% at 7 years, and 90% at 10 years follow-up.

NCT ID: NCT03488147 Withdrawn - Dysphagia Clinical Trials

Whether Proton Pump Inhibitors, Administered Prior to or After Surgery, Can Reduce the Incidence and/or Severity of Difficulty Swallowing Foods and/or Liquids,Following Anterior Cervical Surgery

Start date: July 2020
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The researchers wish to investigate whether proton pump inhibitors, administered prior to or after surgery, can reduce the incidence and/or severity of difficulty swallowing foods and/or liquids, following anterior cervical surgery.

NCT ID: NCT03119038 Withdrawn - Osteoarthritis Clinical Trials

Efficacy of Intraoperative Injections on Postoperative Pain Control During Total Hip Replacement

Start date: April 30, 2016
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to clarify the efficacy of a multidrug versus single drug periarticular injection when only standard operative and postoperative pain management protocols used and the control group is exposed to what our investigators believe is the standard of care, single medication periarticular injection

Cellular & Biocellular Regenerative Therapy in Musculoskeletal Pain, Dysfunction,Degenerative or Inflammatory Disease

BRT
Start date: March 11, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Musculoskeletal disorders and degeneration represent injuries or pain in the body's joint ligaments, tendons, muscles, nerves, and skeletal elements that support extremities, spine and related tissues. Direct injuries and aging contribute to breakdown and inflammation of these tissues, leading to debilitation and loss of function in these areas. This has major impact on quality of life, occupational/recreation limitations, and psychosocial implications. Many therapies have been employed including medications, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and a variety of surgical interventions each of which have distinct limitations, often covering the issues versus providing actual healing and return to function. Many reports are now available utilizing self-healing options which include use of stem/stromal cellular therapy or biocellular treatments (either from adipose or marrow) using targeted placement of cells, matrix and platelet concentrates. Termed cellular or Biocellular therapy (typically optimized using ultrasound guidance). It is proposed that use of cellular isolates or cell-stroma derived from the largest deposit of these cells (adipose greater than marrow), may use in conjunction with targeted placement or as a stand alone methodology intravascular use. This study is designed as a interventional means to examine the safety and efficacy of the use of cellular and tissue stromal vascular fraction in musculoskeletal pain, dysfunction degeneration or inflammatory disorders.

Study Comparing Regional Anesthetic Blocks and Periarticular Infiltration for the Management of Post-operative Pain After Direct Anterior Total Hip Arthroplasty

DA THA pain
Start date: May 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

To compare two methods of post-operative pain management in patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty. There is a perception that the periarticular injections may not be as effective in controlling post-operative pain. Both methods are current standard of care. The investigators want to compare the outcomes of each when patients are randomized to one of the methods compared to the other method of post-operative pain control.
