NCT ID: NCT05844878 Enrolling by invitation - Dental Anxiety Clinical Trials

Dental Anxiety Management by Behavioral Therapeutic Techniques Among Iraqi Adult Patients Seeking Private Dental Care

Start date: June 15, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Dental anxiety considered as one of the weariest problems and disturbing problems with which the individual dentist has had to fight. Dental anxiety has been a major patient's complaint which interferes with different dental treatment. Therefore, dental anxiety may have a critical impact on the deterioration of oral health. It is a problem of many patients. Excessive dental anxiety will leads to bad oral health. It is estimated that about 36% of the world population are suffering from dental anxiety and 5- 15% of adults in developed countries suffer from severe anxiety to dental treatment. According to researchers, between 50% and 80% of adults in the United States have some degree of dental anxiety. In Saudi Arabia dental anxiety was found to be 50%. Very limited number of studies have been done in Iraq especially management of anxiety, for example in Baghdad, it was found that about 55% of study population had dental anxiety. Because of no studies have been conducted to determine the impact of dental anxiety management in Karbala city-Iraq, thus conducting such a study is timely and much needed to improve patient care. The goal of this clinical trial is to test the effectiveness of behavioral management technique on patients having different levels of dental anxiety, among Iraqi adult patients seeking private dental care in Karbala city. The main question it aims to answer is: Is dental anxiety management effective in decreasing dental anxiety levels among adult Iraqi patients seeking private dental care in Karbala city? Participants will be requested to fill the self-reported questionnaire paper for anxiety levels determination & sociodemographic factors. Researchers will use non-pharmacological behavioral therapeutic techniques including combination of cognitive behavioral therapy (distraction technique) and mindfulness therapy (relaxation breathing and muscle relaxation techniques) applied as one package. the patients with anxiety will be divided in to 2 groups; one group with applying intervention and the other group without applying intervention to see if the dental anxiety therapy is effective in decreasing dental anxiety level for anxiety patient. This study hypothesized that there is a significant difference in the changes of dental anxiety level between managed patients and not managed patients (between group) and (within group) between pre and post managed patients after three months follow up assessment.

NCT ID: NCT05636683 Enrolling by invitation - Clinical trials for Periodontal Diseases

Bone Remodeling and Non-surgical Periodontal Therapy

Start date: February 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Previous studied have investigated the pathophysiological role and expression of Cathepsin K (Ctsk) , receptor activator of the NF-κB ligand (RANKL) and periostin in active periodontitis and peri-implantitis lesions. However, the potential influence of non-surgical periodontal therapy including scaling and root planning on the bone remodeling markers level over different trial times have not well determined. Thus, the current research is conducted to address this influence. Thus, the research question will be: In patients with periodontitis, does the level of bone remodeling markers altered after successful NSPT during different healing time periods?

NCT ID: NCT05389059 Enrolling by invitation - Gingival Diseases Clinical Trials

Injectable Platelet Rich Fibrin With Collagen Matrix in Treatment of Multiple Gingival Recession.

Start date: April 25, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study is proposing the use of i-PRF clot as a scaffold for the XCM in order to obtain a novel biomaterial, incorporating active growth factors and collagen matrix in a single framework, based on the potential effect of i-PRF to enhance fibroblast activity and angiogenesis stimulation for treatment of multiple gingival recession.

NCT ID: NCT04366661 Enrolling by invitation - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Iraqi Trial for Lung Cancer Screening

ITLUCAS
Start date: June 1, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Lung cancer is a global problem. Worldwide, 1.2 million people die of lung cancer each year. In Iraq, lung cancer is the most common malignancy after breast cancer and the leading cause of cancer-related death. Tobacco smoking plays a major role in lung cancer; it is reported in 85-90% of lung cancer patients yet environmental tobacco smoke, environmental and domestic air pollution, work-related risk factors, radon exposure, and viruses may also have an impact on lung cancer incidence rates. Early detection of the disease before patients develop symptoms considers the best way to improve patient outcomes. IT LUCAS is designed to evaluate the utility of low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) screening in early detection and management of lung cancer in high-risk people.

NCT ID: NCT04140006 Enrolling by invitation - Partial Edentulism Clinical Trials

Efficacy of Antiresorptive and Bone Forming Material on Dental Implants

Start date: July 1, 2019
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Insertion of a metal implant is considered one of the most common surgeries for fracture treatment, joint replacement, and dental implants. The success rate of these implants depends on their fixation which is in turn related primarily on the strength of the bone holding them. Studies evaluating the influence of local application of antiresorptive drugs, like bisphosphonates, on implanted endoprostheses whether orthopedic or dental is increasing annually with more and more experimental studies as well as clinical trials worldwide. On the other hand implants that release medications that enhance bone formation will lead to improved implant fixation and success. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of topical application of alendronate sodium gel and recombinant human bone morphogenic protein 2 on dental implant stability and crestal bone level.

NCT ID: NCT03964935 Enrolling by invitation - Periodontal Pocket Clinical Trials

Lycopene vs Minocycline Hydrochloride as Adjunctive to Periodontal Treatment

Start date: December 1, 2018
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Periodontal diseases are among the most common medical conditions that may influence humans; 50% of the adult population can be affected by this illness. The condition is usually initiated by lack or reduction in oral hygiene which is then aggravated by the presence of microorganisms within biofilm which will induce a sequel of events that will lead to periodontitis. Scaling, root planning, and polishing (SRP) are the golden standard procedures in the treatment. Systemic antibiotics as adjunctive therapy has been established to be an excellent modality in controlling the bacterial virulence, hence, supporting the conventional SRP therapy. in order to avoid and limit the harmful effect of systemic antibiotics different locally applied preparations have been introduced including antioxidants. The aim of this prospective clinical study is to compare between the effect of Minocycline hydrochloride (HCL) microsphere and Lycopene gel when they are applied intrapocket subgingival with conventional SRP therapy
