NCT ID: NCT04493398 Completed - Periodontitis Clinical Trials

Air-polishing or Conventional Treatment

Start date: June 1, 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Background: To effectively disrupt microbial biofilm and remove dental calculus with minimal damage to the root surface and soft tissues with limited patient discomfort constitute a significant tenet of periodontal therapy. The aim of the present prospective 12-month study was to compare clinical and microbiological effects following an erythritol air-polishing vs. conventional mechanical debridement of furcation defects in a cohort of periodontal maintenance patients. Methods: Twenty patients with grade II mandibular molar furcation defects volunteered to enroll in this study. In a split-mouth design, two furcation sites in each patient were randomly assigned to either receive subgingival debridement using erythritol air-polishing (test) or conventional ultrasonic/curette debridement (control) at baseline, and at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months. Probing depth, clinical attachment level and bleeding on probing were recorded at 3-month intervals. Subgingival microbiological samples obtained at baseline, 6 and 12 months were analyzed using checkerboard DNA-DNA hybridization. Discomfort from treatment was scored at 12 months using a visual analogue scale.

"Efficacy Of 1.2% Rosuvastatin Gel In The Management Of Infrabony Defects"

Start date: January 28, 2016
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Study aims to evaluate clinical and radiographic effectiveness of 1.2% Rosuvastatin gel in the treatment of Infrabony defects in chronic periodontitis patients.

NCT ID: NCT00529555 Completed - Adult Periodontitis Clinical Trials

Periocline as an Adjunct to Scaling and Root Planing for Adult Periodontitis

Start date: January 2006
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Periodontal disease (commonly called gum disease) is generally treated by deep cleaning of the root surfaces of the teeth. This is also called scaling and root planing. Placing a topical antibiotic into the periodontal pocket at the time of scaling and root planing may help reduce pocket depth and thus help the periodontal disease. Periocline (minocycline HCl) 2.1% gel is a topical antibiotic approved in a number of countries for this use, and is now being tested in the US.

NCT ID: NCT00221130 Completed - Adult Periodontitis Clinical Trials

Clinical Trials of Regeneration for Periodontal Tissue

Start date: July 2004
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Adult periodontitis is a chronic infective disease affecting the periodontium. Periodontitis induce the destruction of attachment apparatus of teeth, resulting in periodontal pocket formation and teeth loss. This study will test the safety and efficacy of alveolous bone reproduction by the transplantation of mixture named periodontium injectable gel for the adult periodontitis patients. Injectable gel is the mixture of ex-vivo cultured mesenchymal stem stem cells, ex-vivo cultured osteoblast-like cells differentiated from mesenchymal stem cells and scaffold (include, platelet rich plasma, human thrombin and calcium chloride).
